I purchased a 16 GB SDHC Card from AData. When i put the card into the camcorder it won't recognize it and it only records to the internal memory.
I am going on a trip tomorrow and needed this to work. I'm stressed out now so any help you can provide would be much appreciated.
I had a literally terrifying experience with Aiptek customer service.
I called up Aiptek to ask if it was possible to get my memory cards working. I have two 4GB SDHC PNY cards, which th ekid at target reccomended after loking at the back of the box.
I was told by aiptek tech support that PNY cards will not work in the A-HD camera.
When I mentioned that the box says it will take cards up to 32GB, and asked him if this was not false advertising. The representative became irate and started insulting me, using valgure language, and calling me a liar.
At this point I had enough of his abuse and yelled at him F.U!
What happened next is Truly Absurd and Outrageous!
The man behind the telephone at Aiptek told me he was going to send 5 guys to my house to assult me and my fammily!
THIS IS NO JOKE!
I had a similar problem with a 16GB PNY SD memory card. After a very long phone call to Aiptek customer support, it was determined that the problem was firmware based; the most recent firmware was sent to me by email, but since the camera didn't recognize the 16GB memory card, it couldn't be updated.
The solution is pretty impractical; you need an SD card that the camcorder recognizes, upload the firmware to that card, update the camera, and then insert the previously unrecognized memory card. I was lucky enough to have a 128 MB Panasonic SD card from an older camera, but if you don't have one or a friend from whom you can borrow one, the only solution is to buy a different card that the camcorder recognizes.
To update the camera with the firmware uploaded to the other SD card, from menu mode, hold the top-left button on the screen and the record button under the lens. With any luck, this will make your previously unrecognized SD card ready for action.
Good luck!
Hahahahhahahahhahaa, that was funny
I'm using a 4Gb PNY card from Best Buy and it works just fine!
Other cards not working should be Formatted in a PC first, then reformat in the camera & see if it works as the camera refused to format micro SD cards that were formatted on a cellphone but formatted them just fine after I formatted them first in a computer!
Good Luck
I have just purchased the Aiptek AHD 720P and also tried a 16Gb SDHC card which didn't get recognised. Aiptek could not have been more helpful, and sent me the firmware upgrade by email (V2.002) which should fix the problem. (The software was V1.6 previously).
According to the Apitek web site (and the manual for the A-HD 720p) this camera only supports SD cards up to 8GB in size. An 8GB SD card is certainly an SDHC card, so they support SDHC, but mysteriously, nothing larger than 8GB.
One would imagine this could be fixed with a firmware update, but I have not idea if any of the cheapie camcorder companies actually ever offer firmware updates. You would have to check with Aiptek.

I have the exact same problem. Also, while the camera will not record at all to the 16GB AData SDHC card, it will allow access for reading and writing from a PC when the camera is connected via USB. Also the one reply was incorrect. The instruction manual (one can download it at http://www.goaiptek.com/manuals/manual-a... ) says on Page 19 under specifications:
External memory SD/MMC card (up to 32GB SDHC)
So the card is suppose to support the 16GB SDHC card but appears not to. Lets hope Aiptek has firmware upgrade coming. I have a question regarding the above entered at their support link and I am waiting for a reply. -David Dara

With the same brand 8gb card I can take 2000 pics & with the 16gb card I can only take 500 pics. I have not changed anything on my Camera settings nor have I added anything extra to my memory card any different from my 8gb card.
