American standard toilet doesnt always flush, water swirls around

There is a clog in the line. A plunger usually solves this problem, but you have to use a toilet plunger. Your local hardware store will give you the right tool ($13). If the plunger doesn't work, you need a toilet auger (also called a closet auger), which you can buy for less than $20.

I am installing 2 new american standard champion 4 toilets and on both of them the tank will not sit on the base. the thick rubber gasket seems to be too thick to allow this. i don't want to crank down too...

The reason the tank doesn't sit down on the bowl is cause it's not supposed to just sit flush from the start. Your suppose to tighten the tank bolts down in order to get a water tight seal. There is also these little rubber " U " shaped things that sit on the porcelain lip on the back of the bowl thats what's there to protect it from cracking when you tighten the bolts down. Just place 1 on the right side and the the other on on the left side. and tighten down 'til the tank touches the bowl.

I bought a toilet from homedepot in toronto 6 months ago. from yesterday, it keeps to refill the tank like every 10 seconds. but i can not see where the water leaks

There are a few likely causes for a toilet to leak and refill. The most common is the flapper not seating properly. Usualy on an American Standard it is a disc. Either way, they are fairly easy to replace. One test I use to see if the leak is comming from the flush assembly is to put a couple drops of food coloring in the tank and wait a few minutes to see if it appears in the bowl. If so, there is a leak in the flush assembly, usualy the flapper. Hope this heps. Please vote to let me know.

Champion4 leaks water through flush valve

You have replaced the flush valve completely? If so and the unit is still leaking, you may have a small crack in the tank or your just not getting the tank to bowl fittings tight enough. Also, they make two different thicknesses in the tank to bowl gasket. Make sure you are using the thicker of the two. You posted this under the American Std. thread, so if this is correct, give them a call. There could be a recall on this particular toilet due to a flaw.

American standard toilet

I have the American Standard Champion 4 toilet. Water is leaking from the tank to the bowl causing the toilet to refill. I've replaced the flapper and cleaned the surface the flapper contact. Nothing seems to work.
