How can you tell if it is a version 1 or 2?

Sansa e200 series has 3 not interchangeable versions of firmware:
  • version 1: e200, firmware starts with v1.xx.xxx
  • version 2: e200v2, firmware starts with v3.xx.xxx
  • version rhapsody: e200r, firmware starts with v1.xx.xxx
Site for the difference between these versions:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/193

The exact type should be on the back of the player: model e280R.
For the rhapsody there is only 1 firmware available.
The zip file can be downloaded here:
http://mp3support.sandisk.com/firmware/rhapsody-1.0.2.165.zip

When another firmware is needed, go to the download firmware wizard on next page and select your model:

Drag droped several mb of mpeg &flv format sansa e280r wont recog

It would be possible for them to play on the computer because it has the capability to do so. It will be playing the files as if a memory stick is plugged. You need to convert those flv videos to a compatible format that the sansa can recognise.

Sansa e280r wont connect with laptop

On your Sansa, go to "Settings," then "System Settings," then USB Mode, change the mode to MSC, then try it. If that doesn't work try the other modes just in case.
Hope this helps!

DELETING VIDEOS FROM MY MP3

Below are the instructions. I hope I've made them clear enough!
Make sure your device is under MSC instead of MTP...To do that go under Menu, settings and then usb mode...
--

Step 1
Open up Windows Explorer: Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer

Step 2
On the right of Windows Explorer, click on My Computer

Step 3
You should see two devices after your CDROM drive. One will be SANSA E260R and the other will be Sansa e200R Rhapsody. Chose the one on the top; the one that doesn't say Rhapsody. It may say E250R, E260R, E270R, or E280R depending on which model you have.

Step 4
Once you're viewing the device, you'll see the folders: PHOTO and VIDEO. These are the folders that contain your photos and videos. For videos, you can simply remove the video you want to delete - it will completely remove it.

I hope that helps
Please rate accordingly

Can't download files from Overdrive files

Make sure that either your Rhapsody or Overdrive subscription is still good and resync all files in Windows Media Player.

If that fails, you'll have to start from scratch:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
-----
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

There are many settings in Windows Media Player for Ripping music. Make sure yours are set to WMA with 192kbps or higher..

Windows Media Player>Tools>Options>Rip Music (Copy CD).

Best of Luck.
