You do not activate or set the TV resolution at the TV, the signal feeding the TV has to be hi-def for the TV to show HI-DEF. TV will show what is being fed with, lo-def in = lo-def display.

sounds like bad capacitors on the power board. Very common problem. I would look at the caps if any appear even slightly rounded on top they are bad. They should be perfectly flat on top any puffing up means replace that cap.
U can't only receive HD the mode is 1080i is the HD signal. Some HD signals are free the rest must order HD package from cables or satalites signals to have more.
Hi trishallan! I will be more than glad to assist you in this concern.. On the back of your Sansui STB-HD01 (Set top box) there is an input name - ANT In- Attached an external antenna to this terminal. If your LCD TV is an HDTV you can use the HD-YPbPr (you will see there Red, Green, Blue) on the back of the Sansui-STB-HD01, The cable that your going to use is the component cable - the color is Red, Green, Blue) - connect the 1st end to the back of the sansui-set top box and the other end is going to your LCD-TV. If your LCD TV is not and HDTV you cand use the other terminal which is on the right side of the HD-YPbPr, the SD-YPbPr, you can use the same cable - the Red, Green, Blue, .. then there is s display switch-Set this switch in conjunction with MODE switch according to your TV display capability.and there is a mode select- Set this switch in conjunction with DISPLAY switch according to your TV display capability, then u need to tune in the tv to compionent channel, use the LCDtv remote to cycle the input of your tv.
if you have any query please feel free to get in touch..
No this TV is not HD ready. However it is digital (ATSC) ready meaning now that most of the analog brodcasts have stopped it will receive the digital broadcasts so you don't need a converter box. Since it can only display 480i resolution it is not HD ready. You would need a TV that can display 720p or better to be considered HD ready.
your ready, just connect the cable directly and the ntsc and atsc will auto search all channels and the dijital channels along with HD channels. but the paying channels like HBO and cinamax you will need a HD Box. to allow you to see them.
