LAPTOP DVD DRIVE WONT PLAY DVDS ANYMORE

MY DVD DRIVE DOESN'T PLAY PROPERLY NOW. IT JUST HAPPENED SUDDENLY WHILST I WAS WATCHING A MOVIE.
THE SYMPTOMS ARE THAT: -
1. The pace of both the picture and sound is inaccurate and jerky.
2. Sound and picture are often out of sync.
3. Jerkiness occur repeatedly, but sometimes the movie wont continue to play at all. The drive tries to spin up, pauses, tries to spin up again ? this goes on and on for several minutes and can?t be stopped (the drive won?t eject). When it finally stops and the drive ejects the disc will be burning hot.
4. You never know if/when (and why  ) the movie will stop working in the middle.

Sometimes the problems are really bad, sometimes not so. At its worst the computer won?t play a disc at all. A disc that won?t play at all one day may at least be somewhat watchable the next.
6.Also, when i try to burn movies onto cd it takes much longer than usual.
7. You cant play audio on the laptop when the dvd drive is running.
DO I NEED TO BUY A NEW DVD DRIVE OR SOMETHING CAN YOU PLEASES HELP ME

SOURCE: picture sticks, breaks up repeatedly

Change the location of the unit, this sounds like an overheating problem. It is too close to other units or is enclosed in a tight space. You may also try putting a small fan behind it to cool it down.

SOURCE: LAPTOP DVD DRIVE WONT PLAY DVDS

i have just recently updated windows and its took my drive out again, comes up with Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)

SOURCE: Does not play any disc

Thats bad..Did you try another disc? If this happens even with a different disc. You will need to get a lens cleaner(costs about 5$) and try cleaning the lens. If it still doesn't work then you will have to replace the lens. The reason why it died suddenly is probably because the lens circuitry somehow got shorted. Try cleaning and if not.. replace.

SOURCE: wont spin dvd's anymore

You can try and clean the laser optics with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol. Just open the DVD lid. It is usually a small glass lens ( often clear or blueish in color)
let the excess alcohol evaporate.
If that does not give more motor movement, its possible you have a defective spindle motor or drive IC

SOURCE: will play discs burned from hdd but not commercial movie type dvd

The solution is simple.I rang LG service (so called - LOL)
Asked for a fix or reset method. (Which can be done but they won't tell novices how)
Got no joy, so now I will bin it,and spend the rest of my days telling people to avoid LG.
After all the posts I have since read about the same problem on various LG models,it is obvious their product sucks, they know it does, but won't accept the responsibility.
If I stop 4 people buying their ****,that's at least $1000 they miss out on.
If the process snowballs,how much then$$ ?
It would cost me $120 just to get it to and pick it up from the repair place.
Plus parts and labour added.
Before buying an LG DVD recorder go online and check out how many dissatisfied customers there are. In short, DO NOT BUY !!

How do I get my laptop to play dvds again it won t work

When you say play DVDs you mean watch DVD movies? Assuming the drive is not broken you need to use the DVD app. You could use VLC Player which you can download. It's an orange traffic cone icon.

My computer says that it has Cyberlink DVD 9 on it. But I can't play any DVDs on it. What shall I do?

First, gotta make sure you have a DVD drive, most modern computers do: DVD, DVD/ CD-RW, or DVD-RW drives are commonplace these days. If you have a DVD drive and it doesn't play anything, then more than likely you have a defective drive (DVD drives not working with DVD discs is a fairly common type of failure - insofar as failures go).

To be absolutely certain, try playing an original, commercial DVD movie - one that you know is good - if it still doesn't play it then it is, in all likelihood, a failed DVD drive.

My CD/DVD drive won't read/play DVDs and it won't write DVDs either. It used to do this fine, but it doesn't anymore. It will still play and write CDs, but not DVDs. I have tried EVERYTHING to...

You probably will need to replace the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) in your laptop. Go to Google and search for "Dell Inspirion 6000 CD/DVD drive" to find a replacement.
To be sure it's the CD/DVD drive that's defective and not your operating system software, you could also try to boot from a boot-able DVD disk.

IN DVD DRIVE CD PLAYS BUT DVD CAN NOT PLAY

hi
I think in detail you problem is that you play DVD movies, write DVDs, write CD etc. overall it was working fine. All on a sudden you could not plat DVD movies anymore. At the beginning you thought your DvD burner needs to be changed but you tried audio CD and mp3 just to check and they worked fine, then you tried data DVD, that worked perfectly okay as well. than you think there was certain that it's a software problem. So you tried all sort of things that you possibly could. you removed the hardware and added it back on. It didn't work. you uninstalled DVD codec and reinstall it. Still didn't work. you installed one software called regcure, still didn't work. you tried windows troubleshooter, didn't get much help.

if you done all these thing......than i think..

The DVD drive still could be bad. I would try to borrow an external DVD drive before you try anything else. If the system picks up the drive and plays though your software, then most likely the drive is bad. I had this happen with a desktop in reverse, (played DVD, not CD). I think there are 2 different lasers in a combo drive. It's definitely worth a shot. Is there anything in media player waiting to be written? Unless you have a third party codec properly installed in Windows Media Player, it will pretty much act the way you describe.

hopes that helpful to you

Pioneer dvd r/rw wont play a dvd

If your computer recognizes a disc in the drive and operates normally, Id assume you would need a DVD player or codec to be able to actually watch the DVD. PowerDVD rings a bell.
Have you tired that? I know Windows Media Player by default wont let you watch a movie without first downloading a codec.

Playing DVDs on Laptop through the TV

Here's what's happening... software companies like CyberLink subscribe to the Macrovision requirements for playing DVDs and protecting copyrighted materials.

Macrovision has approved numerous video cards for what they call "TV Out" which allows the movie to be displayed on your TV.

Unfortunately, your Dell Inspiron does not have a Macrovision approved and supported video card in it, so it gives instructions to the computer to disable TV Out and not allow it to play anywhere besides the computer.
