I'm trying to find out what flash time is. I have a KXTGA 550M. In menu, initial settings, set tel line, set flash time: there it has settings 700ms-90ms. What does this affect?

Hi, you need to adjust flash time, by default is 600ms (0.6 seconds) the options are from 90ms (shorter) to 700ms (longest). To do it , go to base, press MENU and then VOL + or VOL - to select SETTINGS, press MENU again and VOL + or VOL - to select FLASH TIME , then press again MENU and VOL + or VOL - to select flash time you want, press MENU to save. If none works you should ask your phone company about flash time value or if call waiting and call hold are active on your line and if they require any special operation or code to use them.
Turn the radio off, then hold down the time set, the hr will flash, set it with the arrow keys, then press time set again, do the same for mins, then click time set to accept the changes.
You have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

I copied this from my manual onto a sticky label & have it stuck on the bottom of my phone for future reference.
Try checking the camear setting to see if the "Flash" is enabled. There are a number of choices. For exmaple you can make the camera flash no matter what, You can make it flash only when there is insufficient light, You can turn it off. And, if your camera has the red eye feature it flashes twice if you select that setting. Hopefully you just inadvertently changed this setting
Your time needs set on your answering machine. If you have buttons on the top of your base, press and hold the day/check button to set the day of the week. Press and hold the hour button to set the hour. Press and hold the min button to set the min. If you don't have buttons on base, press the flash button on handset to enter answerer remote mode. Press the 8 key to enter time set menu. Set hour and min using number buttons and set am/pm using caller id buttons. Press # pause to confirm the setting.
It appears that your phone does not have an internal answering system, so the control of the number of rings before the callers go to voicemail is controlled by the telephone LINE and not the telephone INSTRUMENT. Since that is the case, the number of rings has to be adjusted by your telephone company (whomever you pay your monthly phone bill to), OR if this is in an office environment, that would be controlled by your company's telephone service vendor.
Sorry if that doesn't help. Just wanting to clarify that so you aren't chasing into a dead end.
Two solutions. Replacement rubber key pad membrane or re-apply conductive coating.
1) Call Sanyo and see if they have a replacement rubber membrane keypad for your model of telephone. (I replaced the keypad membrane on my Sanyo CLT-2430 cordless phone). In Canada, the Sanyo telephone number is: (905) 760-9944. Their web page is: sanyocanada.com.
