How to install new ink cartridges and how to take out old ink cartridges

If you have some cartridges that aren't empty, first make sure that the printer is on. Then press the Menu button and navigate to the Maintenance menu then select Ink Cartridge Replacement. Press OK. Make sure that the document cover is closed then lift the entire scanner unit (grip it on the sides). If the cartridge carrier moves, wait for it to stop.

Then squeeze the tab at the back of a specific cartridge and pull it straight up. (Have one finger on the tab and another finger or thumb pinching the opposite side of the top of the cartridge.) Prepare your new color cartridge by shaking it 4-5 times then open the bag. Remove the yellow tape from the cartridge without touching any other parts of the cartridge. Then insert the cartridge into that slot and press down until it clicks. Repeat this for the rest of the ink cartridges.

Finally, lower the scanner unit and press OK on the keypad to exit the maintenance mode. Wait for the printer to do its ink system test routine. Cancel any print or scan jobs that were in progress before you changed the ink.

I hope this helps. Pictures to go with the above description are in the user's guide starting on Page 177. It's available here: https://files.support.epson.com/pdf/wf2520/wf2520ug.pdf .

Brother DCP-115C Printer: "No Ink" message continues even after old ink cartridge (still some ink!) is replaced with a new one.

Reset the printer to factory settings
Turn off the printer. and turn it on again.

If still not working

Take out the cartridges, turn off the printer
Turn on the printer and put the cartridge again.

Printer says cant print until cyan ink is replaced. Have replaced it with 2 different cartridges, but still wont print

You won't be able to print if one of the cartridges is out of ink. The printer will prime every once in a while thus the need for all cartridges to have sufficient ink levels to prevent damaging the printhead.

My Brother LC61, bought in Nov.2010, won't print black. Recently replaced black ink along with all color inks...replaced black ink again when it quit printing...still won't work. Machine whirs...

This is common problem with Brother Printers. I am going to assume you are using Non-Brother branded ink cartridges. Brother cartridges have a cleanser in the ink that most generic cartridges don't have. This in turn causes the jets to clog and not allow ink to pass through them. The fix is to go buy a couple of Brother cartridges and do a cleaning with those cartridges. You may spend some money doing this as a cleaning wastes a lot of ink, but it will clean the injection lines and fix the printer. You could also consider buying a new printer. I know this is not the answer you were looking for, but it is the true answer. I just bought a new printer due to this fact.

In case of a problem or clarification or my solution was insufficient, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

Started with out of colour ink - changed coluor ink cartridge. then came up with out of black ink - so changed the black ink cartridge now sais scanner failure when run through procedure to align...

"Scanner failure" basically means buy a new machine. Once the scanner fails on an all-in-one it will refuse to do anything. Replacing or fixing the scanner will cost much more than buying a new machine.

Do i need an ink cartridge for the fax machine to work and setup

Some brands of fax machines and all-in-one printer/scanner/fax/copiers need the ink cartridge to be present and have some ink in it to perform functions which don't actually require ink.

My dad bought a Brother all-in-one, and he is unable to scan or send faxes unless he replaces an empty ink cartridge first. If you have a Brother fax machine, I'd suggest returning it and buying a different brand. They waste ink on unnecessary cleaning procedures and force you to buy more for stuff that doesn't need ink.

I have an epson stylus NX100 and i just put brand new black ink in it recently i printed two pages max i went back to use it and it says that my black ink has expanded and i have to buy a new one? what...

***hi there, ill be willing to help you on that. ****
try to reseat the cartridges first to charge it again, reseat means Remove and reInstall the Cartridges. after doing that and still the same issue, and you have an extra set, try to load another brand new ink, just to isolate if it is the ink thats causing the problem, if the same issue persist, its not the ink that you bought, its the printer already, the printer is broken, call epson if it is still covered by 1 yr warranty, 1 yr with in date of purchase. they will send you a replacement printer.

1. Turn on the Epson Stylus NX100 Series.
If a cartridge is expended, the ink light on the control panel stays on. You must replace the cartridge to be able to print.
If the ink light is flashing, a cartridge is low on ink; replacement is recommended.
2. Open the scanner and prop it up with its support
3. Press the nx100_tx100_ug.1.93.5.jpg Stop button. The print head moves to the nx100_tx100_ug.1.93.6.jpg position to indicate which cartridge is low or expended.
4. Press the nx100_tx100_ug.1.93.8.jpg Stop button again. If another cartridge is low or expended, it moves to the nx100_tx100_ug.1.93.9.jpg position. Press the nx100_tx100_ug.1.93.10.jpg Stop button again to see if more cartridges are expended. If no other cartridges are low or expended, the print head moves to the replacement position on the right. 5. Squeeze the tab on the cartridge and lift the cartridge straight up to remove it. Dispose of it carefully. Do not take the used cartridge apart or try to refill it.
7Remove the cartridge from the package
8. Remove the yellow tape from the bottom of the cartridge.
9. reInsert the new cartridge into the holder and push it down until it clicks into place. 10. Once you replace all the necessary cartridges, lift the scanner slightly, release its support, and lower the scanner.. 11. Press the nx100_tx100_ug.1.93.18.jpg Stop button to begin charging the ink. This takes about 1 1/2 minutes. When the nx100_tx100_ug.1.93.19.jpg On light stops flashing and remains on, ink charging is finished. Caution:
Never turn off the Epson Stylus NX100 Series while ink is charging or you’ll waste ink.

I don't know how to change the ink bought this printer from a guy at work no manual

Lift the scanner cover from the right-hand side of the MFC until
it locks securely into the open position.

If one or more ink cartridges are empty, for example Black, the
LCD shows Ink Empty Black and Cover is Open.

Pull the ink cartridge hook toward you and remove the ink
cartridge for the color shown on the LCD.

Open the new ink cartridge bag for the color shown on the LCD,
and then take out the ink cartridge.

Remove the cartridge covers.

Each color has its own correct position. Keep the ink cartridge
in an upright position when you insert it into slot. Press down on
the ink cartridge until the hook snaps over it.

Lift the scanner cover to release the lock. Gently push the
scanner cover support down and close the scanner cover.

If you replaced an ink cartridge while Near Empty was
displayed on the LCD, the LCD may ask you to verify that it was
a brand new one. Example: Did You Change Blck? 1.Yes
2.No. For each new cartridge you installed, press 1 on the dial
pad to automatically reset the ink dot counter for that color. If the
ink cartridge you installed is not a brand new one, please be
sure to select 2.

If you wait until Ink Empty message is displayed on the LCD,
the MFC will automatically reset the ink dot counter.

If the Install message is on the display after you have
installed ink cartridges, check that the ink cartridges are
installed properly.

Hope that helps you!

Epson stylus cx4200 all-in-one?

1. Make sure the printer is turned on.
2. Make sure the document cover is closed, then closed, then open the scanner.
(Do not open the scanner when the document cover is open).
3. Press and release the ink button. The 'On' and 'Ink' lights flash.
If one of the cartridges is low or empty the printer moves that cartridge to the 'ink out' mark. Go to step 4.
If no cartridges are low or empty the ink cartridge holder moves to the ink replacement position. Go to step 5.
4. Pree the 'ink' button again.
If more than one cartridge is empty or low the next cartridge moves to the 'ink out' mark.
Once the printer identifies all the empty or low ink cartridges the print head moves to the ink cartridge replacement position.
5. Open the cartridge cover, squeeze the tab at the back of the empty cartridge and lift it out.
6. Before you open the new cartridge package shake it four or five times and remove it from the package .
(Don't remove or tear the label on the cartridge otherwise ink will leak out) .
(Don't touch the green chip on the front of the ink cartridge - you could damage the cartridge).
7. Place the new ink cartridge into the cartridge holder and push it down till it clicks into place.
8. Replace any other cartridges that need replacing.
9. Close the ink cartridge cover and press it until it clicks into place.
10. Close the scanner.
11. Press the 'ink' button. The printer starts charging ink and the 'on' light starts flashing . This takes about a minute . When it's finished the 'on' light stops flashing and remains on and the 'ink' light goes out.
