I bought this TV about 5 months ago, and three months ago the problem first showed up. I didn't have any sound using cable, but I still have sound on my DVDs. Cable guy came and checked it and said that the problem is with TV. I connected cable box to the TV using audio/video cable (like a composite) and it worked that way fine. However, two days ago I again didn't have any sound on any of composites (cable and DVD), for about 2 minutes, but then everything was OK. Today I came home and turned on TV, and there is no sound for about half an hour already.
Does anyone have an idea what might be a problem here?

I have a question? Do you move your Television frequently, OR do you unplug it frequently when it's not in use? I have found that doing either or both of those things can bring on problems, especially audio problems.
I've had the disappearing sound problem twice with my Element FLX-2610. This latest time I was stumped because the full scan didn't resolve the problem. And of course, the sparse manual that comes with the TV contains no troubleshooting advice at all.
But I did find a suggestion on another sveral other sites: Reset the TV. You might have a small reset button (like you would find on a DSL modem) somewhere on your TV but there is a manual way to do it two. Whichever way you do, MAKE SURE to disconnect every single device (yep, it's a pain) and UNPLUG the TV before doing this.
To reset with a reset button, disconnect devices and unplug the TV. Depress the reset button for 5 seconds. Reconnect devices, then plug in the TV.
Manual Procedure:
Disconnect all devices
Unplug the Television
Using the on/off button on the Television (NOT on the remote), depress and hold the button for 5 seconds.
Reconnect the devices, then plug in the TV.
Unless something has shorted out or burned up inside, this resetting, as a last resort, should fix the audio problem. Worked like a charm for me!

Hey everyone I had the same problem ran across a post that said a full channel scan fixed the problem. It fixed my problem!!! I seen like frequence scans on my TV while it was scanning and sure enough, fixed all my problems!!!
I had no sound on some channels, no color on other and some were just fine. Now every channel is fixed!! My TV is a Insignia LCD I think its 15".

It's not the TV. It's the audio setting on your cable box. You need to set audio output to HDMI. I had the same problem at first. Call you cable provider to help you set it if you can't figure it out.
Wow...I unplugged my cable box and Insignia 32" television due to a lightening storm and when I plugged them back in, I had NO SOUND on my TV. After working with the television, I checked the audio setting on my cable box and had to set sound from "TV Speakers" to "Stereo"...Little fix, but frustrating!
This tv brand has a rather exotic blend of ICs, and as they are made in china, the low assembly quality is remarcable. My TV got the TV signal audio OWNED, but still the dvd and hdmi audio worked. So in doing some troubleshooting, so far i know the audio amp IC is working fine, and i am working my way around the passives in the mute pin, next i´m going all the way up to the IC that switches between audio inputs, but i´m not quite there yet.
Our tv is only 2 yrs old , it was working an hour ago now it has no picture or sound, just a black screen.
I tried the full scan and it worked for me. I lost all sound without any previous problems. Hopefully it's not an indication of things to come. I've only had this thing for about 6 months.

I received a 37' LCD tv for Christmas 2007 and it was not even a month later when we started getting static in the volume then no volume at all. I am waiting for a technican to come next week. Could it be the speakers?

No sound with cable or dvd. It is around 10 months old.
The sound on my insignia Tv has a lot of static when ever i try to play ps3 games through my HDMI cable. The cable and system aren't bad so because they both worked fine on other tvs. The picture on this tv is great it just the enormous amount of static that comes with the sound is annoying. Fix?

Suddenly no sound on my 8 months old TV. Besides the cable, nothing else is hooked and nothing was changed from one day to another to justfy the lost of sound.
No sound on my insignia lcdtv-32 TV. It is only 6 weeks old and did this several weeks ago, but then sound came back on. Now it is doing it again, and no sound at all through TV or headphone jacks.
13 month old Insignia 32" LCD 720p HDTV, no sound coincidentally after the warranty ended. Turned the television on one morning and had a loud hissing and buzzing. Turned the tv off for 2 minutes and back on and it was fine. After coming home from work, I powered it on and it was working perfectly. I then switched to m XBox 10 minutes later and the sound cut off. Now no matter what is on, XBox 360, DVD playre, PS2 or even cable tv, there is no sound. Supposidly this is an infrequent issue with many Insignia television owners, especally of this size.
My 12 month old 32" Insignia LCD HDTV started to have a loud hissing sound when using component cables. After about a week the sound started screwing up when using the HDMI, and finally even RF has the problem, over the past few weeks the problem has gotten progessivly worse, to the point now where I either have no sound at all or the hissing.
The cable guy came out today, switched the box, did a full channel scan, changed the coaxial cable and nothing worked, conclusion... the TV

I have a 37" Insignia that I have had for 1 year and 1 month.Of course the warranty is out and I have no sound. It was working fine then all of a sudden the sound was gone.I called Best Buy and Insignia but they could care less. I had a repairman out to fix it yesterday, took him 5 minutes. It worked for about 15 minutes and went out again. He is suppose to come back next week. I guarantee that I will never buy another thing form Best Buy
my 26 inch dvd combo gets no sound from the hdmi hook up on analog channels...hd channels work fine...i have to hook it with component wires to get sound on all channels making the hdmi useless
I have the 32 inch LCD T.V and like most of you, the volume is messed up. One day it jsut starting gradually fading as I was watching T.V then two days later- No sound at all. Of course... as it happens the tv is 12 months old so bestbuy or insignia won't bother with me... I went to DVD and it worked... then I went back to my comp1 with Dish and it worked.. I was so excited but then came home and no sound again. Very disappointing. What is a full TV channel scan? And how do I do it??
same problem. Sent it back to man. and they say there was no problem. Sent it back to me and the sound is still in and out.
I BOUGHT 19" INSIGNIA LCD HDTV FOR THE KITCHEN ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO THERE WAS NO SOUND. SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT THE VOLUME WAS LOCKED UP ON ITAND I STILL HAVE NO SOUND.
I had the same problem with 32" LCD. Took the plugs out and disconnected everything, reset using the on/off button on the tv (not the remote) for 5 seconds and hooked everything back up. Worked like a charm. Thanks folks!!!!!!!!
