Shutter button won't work. I took photos yesterday and everything was fine but today there is no response when shutter button is pressed. I slid across to the video facility and the shutter button won't press on there either - it says standby - have I locked the shutter or something? My manual is all in German so I don't have a clue where to start. Thanks

SOURCE: digimax i6 pmp SHUTTER problems!!!

Solution worked flawlessly. 8 little screws removed (4 on the botton on the side - two on each side of the power charger interface assembly; 2 holding the verticle plastic covering on the side of the camera, and two additional screws underdeath the plastic covering just removed) was all that was needed to create enough separation in the unit to free the protective cover for the lense. The protective cover for the lense now opens and closes as it should when power is enabled/disabled. Thanks for the post, really paid off.

SOURCE: Power key doesn´t work

There must be a problem with your batteries. If you have recently charged your batteries and it happens again, you should try a new set of rechargeable batteries.

You can try conserving charging power usage on camera by turning the flash off so that it doesn't precharge for the next shot.

SOURCE: Samsung D75 digital camera. Having

Problem resolved. My own stupid operating fault. It appears that, in movie mode, you don't just press the shutter button to start a shot, you have to hold it down for a moment. Not made clear in user manual, but I should have twigged earlier.
Thanks for your contact/help.

I have turned camera on and set up to take a photo and the shutter release button will not press in to take the photo. I used the camera yesterday and it worked fine!

Turn the camera on and look into the view finder while you try to press the shutter button. Check the information in the view finder to see whether you are getting an error message. If you see an error message in the view finder, remove the lens cap and proceed to take a photograph but, instead of pressing the shutter button this time, press the button near the top of the camera on the back which says "AF/AE. If the camera takes the photo it means you have somehow initiated the auto focus/auto exposure lock which the camera will not override when attempting to take a photo using the shutter button. When you use the AF/AE button, you override this system. To remedy this issue, when you get the error message try pressing the shutter button again. Also, remove the lens to see if the shutter inside has frozen in the "locked" position. If you find this to be the case you will need to contact Nikon Customer Support. The link for Nikon Support is below. The numbers are half-way down the page.

Shutter button flew off on Christmas day. Luckily was indoors. Found the spring and button, cellotaped together and worked fine until yesterday whilst taking photos, the shutter button suddenly stopped...

shutter mechanism inside may not be in contact with the actual shutter button...or shutter mechanism might have failed altogether.this one's definitely recommended for repair.

Firing "lag time" response

Hi poseguerai,
Try this:
I had the same issue and even if it sounds crazy giving a massage to the shutter button all around in circles helped and when you switch on the camera has no shutter lag again.
I hope it works as it did for me.

Nikon d40

Take the lens off and continue pressing the shutter untill it doesn't react anymore, you should then have a normal menu without the error message.Put your lens on and you're all sorted.Cheaper and less hassle than sending it to Nikon.

Blank screen

So you can see images that are on the card from previous taking but not new? Just to confirm - this is an optical SLR? With a mirror that flips up when you press the button - is that right? If so it souns like to mirror is not going up. Can you hear it go up? Come back

D50 won't take a picture!

I was having the same problem.. And since I could not afford to take it to the shop, I tried everything I could think of...
Then I fixed it!!
It seems that the slide door behind the shutter was stuck for some reason... If you remove the lens.. (make sure the camera is in manual mode)... snap a shot so the shutter is up.. then gently slide the panel in the back down....
Once I did that.. the camera was working again.... Hope this easy solution works for you guys....
