No matter what the problem DS Forum posters will always provide an answer ... That the Alba is your only digital television receiver - you don't have another ... I suspect the set may have found Craigkelly's BBC & ITV/C4/C5 ... BBC Three questions? - Broadcasting

Freeview Help: Missing Freeview Channels - Radio and Telly

ADJUST LANGUAGE SETTINGS ON TV

You simply need to perform the auto-setup when you first use the television. The freeview HD channels will tune in at the same time as the standard def. (SD) channels. You will find them in your channel list but there are only 3 freeview HD channels currently available - BBC HD (Channel 50), ITV1 HD (Channel 51) and Channel 4 HD (Channel 52).

If these channels are missing, it's may be because the HD broadcasts haven't started in your area yet. Please visit this page and enter your postcode to find out if you can get these channels:

When TV channels are moved from one frequency to another frequency that was previously used by a different channel (sorry, but there's no simple way of saying that !) as has happened recently in th UK, some digital TVs and digiboxes struggle to sort the channel list out properly and channels can go missing as you describe.

If your equipment has the option to delete all currently stored channels (normally in the tuning menu options) then do so and then do a full re-tune.
Sometimes, this solves the problem as the equipment is no longer aware of any previous use of a frequency and just loads every channel it finds.

If this doesnt work, or your equipment doesnt have the option, then there is normally the option soemwhere in the menus to retore the item to "factory defaults/configuration". This will clear all previously stored channels and after a full re-tune your missing chanels should be there. However, any other configuration changes you previously made, e.g picture size, output type (RGB/NSCT/etc), etc will be lost and you'll need to set these again.

NB. some regions of the country have lost some channels temporarily now until after the switch over programme completes at the end of 2012. If you visit the Freeview website, this will tell you if your area is affected.

your channel 4 could have been automatically deleted if you did an auto program on the channels.
Poke around in the menu and you should be able to tell it to display channel 4

I'm using an attenuator 3db/5-1000Mhz - I get all channels. Without I got 100% strength,0% quality. hope it helps

PLEASE NOTE THIS INFORMATION COVERS PROBLEMS FOR ALL DEVICES CONNECTED UP BY STUPID scart LEADS. I HOPE IT HELPS EVERYONE.

This is a common problem, the problem is caused by the fact your device is connected to the TV via a scart lead. The way it works is this: If you press the AV button on your TV remote your TV will turn over to the first scart channel. If you actively do something on the device connected via scart in this case the dvd player, (this includes things like playing a DVD or Video, or going into a menu), the device sends a signal down pin 8 of the scart lead and turns the TV over automatically to the AV channel, BUT as soon as you come out of the menu or stop the DVD/Video the signal stops and the TV will revert back to the channel it was on.
So you have 3 choices......maybe 4...
1. press the AV button on your TV remote directly.
2. Buy yourself and HDMI lead IF your TV supports it (note: you will have to select the HDMI channel on your TV remote because the auto thing is only on scart leads).
3. ONLY DO THIS IF YOU HAVE A SPARE LEAD look up a diagram of a scart lead on Google so you can find pin 8 and cut it out with a pair of wire cutters. YOU will have to still press the AV button on your TV remote to go to the channel though,
4. Connect your TV and DVD with an aerial lead and tune channel 6 on your TV into the DVD player. ps then disconnect the scart lead.
(Go for choice number one!)
