My projector sony vpl cs6 projects yellow

My projector sony vpl cs6 has only 156 hours of use but the images are yellow when projected

  • Anonymous Mar 25, 2014

Hi, I just bought a pair of second-hand Sony VPL-PX40 projectors.

Each of them emits a yellow hue in the centre of the projected image.

Any advice as to how I can fix this?

If need be, I'll cannibalise/sacrifice one for the other!

Reset the settings to factory default and change your cable. if that doesn't help, the polarizer filter on the blue lcd panel is fried due to excessive dust and heat. the optical engine will need to be replaced.

Noticed a yellow hue in the centre of the image projected by BOTH of my second-hand Sony VPL PX40's.

Bit of a common problem with Sony projectors of the era that they often had problems with fading and/or cracking of one or more the LCD panels - especially the blue ones for some reason, leading to the type of problem you are experiencing. No point in swapping components either as they will both have similar faults - although replacing an LCD in a video projector is almost impossible without the manufacturers jigs to mechanically align them afterwards anyway...

Projector vpl cx21 cust the edges of the image

In the menus there should be an "image" adjustment option, it could also be related to the "sync" rate. Try different settings. You may also need to adjust the resolution you're sending to the projector from your computer.

I have Sony VPL CS6 projector and the lens cover stays open and wont shut to cover the lens!! The Lens/Cover light on it flashes? It does project for about 15seconds or so but then goes off, this is when...

It is possible that there can be few reasons for the fault siad:
1.the lamp can be faulty
2. the filter can be clogged.
3. the lens cap trigger switch can be faulty and staying on
4.The power supply can be faulty, not delivering the power but shuts off.
5,the main processor board can be faulty witth errors.
It might need board swapping to confirm.

Sony VPL-CX6 Projector turns itself off. No image projected.

does the "lamp/cover"-led light up? i had the same thing happening, the lamp either broke or is about to break and the projektor won't turn it on again to protect itself. if its very urgent, open the projector pull the lamp out and put it in again, it might work for 1 or 2 more times, but it is very likely to explode (usually not breaking the projector but for sure not good for it).

good luck!

Two problems, first the menu appears to be burned into the projection, the bulb has less than 100 hours. Second when black is supposed to be projected it projects blue?

You have a bad lcd, you would probabaly have some blue lite leakage also. Any lcd projector should not be left on the same image for long periods, it wears out the pixels that control the lite thru. The blue lcd is usually the culprit.

YELLOW SPOT ON SCREEN

There may be a dust fleck on one of the LCD screens inside your projector. I had a similar problem and managed to clean it. But it requires you to dissassemble the entire projector !!!. If you are not technical, don't do this yourself. !!!

Horizontal Green Lines!

Hi Tim

I've seen this many times. Only way to get rid of it is to replace the Mainboard.

This will get worse as time goes by.
