Loud noise When dryer starts it sounds just like someone stood beside it and kicked it as hard as they could. Dryer is 5 years old and has been moved to new house about a month ago. I pulled open the top but could see nothing amiss. Couldn't get into the part where the motor is without taking half the cabinet apart. Unit works but this noise is the loudest I've ever heard from a dryer.

Took it apart and my fan had disintegrated. Hard to find a replacement too in my part of the country. Ontario Canada.

My LG dryer (3 yrs old) makes a loud clunk with each drum rotation. It is getting louder every week. The dryer has not been moved from its current location. I think something is wearing out. We cleaned out the hose vent.

I had a similar problem, it also would make a loud clunk when the cycle was finished. Hate to say it but take it apart and check the blower fan. Mine had come loose from the mounting nut and the bushing wore out. The loud clunk was from the fan hitting the mounting nut as it was free wheeling.

They can make a racket!

Cuts off makes noise

Sound like the dryer bearing or rollers are out. This would make it very hard for the dryer to start and run. You must pull the dryer drum out to access the parts. I'm sure you will see the problem right away once it is apart.

GE Harmony Dryer makes Loud Vibrating noise

If you can open the walls of the dryer up check all screws and bolts that hold things together. Some times they will vibrate loose causing parts to make a vibrating sound against the frame itself.. Eventually the loose screws will just keep getting looser. Even the screws on the walls of the unit should be tightened That could cause a lot of noise.

Loud rumble sound, Vent hose vibration

That model of neptune dryer had a problem with the blower housings cracking. When the housing cracks, it binds forward into the blower wheel making a loud "rumble" noise and vibration. If you open the door and manually turn the drum and you hear a rubbing noise and feel alot of resistance, then you have a cracked blower housing and need to replace it. It is not an easy job to replace, so if your not familiar with dryers, you should have a technician replace it. Let me know if you have any further questions. shane

I have a Maytag dryer that was in storage for 2 years. It works fine but it makes a big noise when it starts and ends.

Describe the noise. Does it sound like someone hitting a drum or a loud squeel or a big snap? Is it a short noise or does it make the noise and fades to nothing?

Also, what's the model number.

Thanks!

Dryer makes a loud buzzing noise then quits working.

Sounds like the motor's done. That thing is probably the start-run switch. Not worth trying to fix on an old motor. I've found dryer motors to be fairly generic, you should be able to find a replacement. I use Repairclinic.com when I can't get parts locally.

Dryer making very loud noise.

We had the exact same noise all of a sudden start coming from our 2 year old dryer. We checked everything, rollers, pulleys, motors, etc. I was certain it was coming from the upper left. Finally we found a loose screw had fallen into the front felt ring. Problem solved!
Good luck.

Loud noise when dryer is running.

My guess is that the belt is going bad. It could also be a bad bearing...the noise is generally metallic. Also...a bad belt tensioner comes to mind.
