I have two Hobart N-50's in need of ground-up (counter-up?) restoration, and I'm having trouble obtaining a service manual. I'll soon be disassembling them, stripping the paint, etc, and getting ready to order parts. They both seem to have good motors, but the transmissions don't look great (and don't work). I've heard that Hobart is worried that home mechanics might get hurt if they attempt to repair the mixers themselves, but if I can restore/rebuild Italian racing motorcycles (and race them), I think I can tackle a mixer. These mixers don't deserve to wind up in the metal recycling bin- help them have a new lease on life!
Im a hobart service tech and service these mixers alot.the usual suspect problems is the tumbler assembly.service manuals from hobart---good luck they dont release them.i can help you out,
What a load! If they REALLY cared for consumer's health and well being, Hobart would put out the information as to how to do it right, rather than have folks just tear into the mixers and put the back together any old way.
What they really want to protect is not consumers, but outrageous repair margins.
I'm OK with that, but have the integrity to call a spade a spade.

I need my N50 restored. One repair plac started to workon it and called me to pick up the mixer in a box after they started to take it apart. Wher can I take it or send it for repair.
I have an original 1927 N50 and want to fix it up to look nice as well as work.
I do not want my husband to even try anything with it unless he has
the repair manual and Hobart will not even talk to me about a repair
