My 8GB Sylvania SMPK8858 is messed up. When I went to look at the music files, they had all funky letters and took up so much space. I cannot delete them because my computer cannot read the file type. Also, my mp3 froze on me. I left it to turn off, and it did. But when I turned it on again, it went to the screen, BUT, it was still frozen. Help ?

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer.

Explore in the folders for the folder Video Convert Tool:
Sylvania SMPK8858 \ SYL_SMPK8858_DRIVER \ SMPK8858 \ Video Convert Tool .
Install the convert tool by running (double click) the Setup.exe file inside that folder.
That video converter should make the format into the right one, so that it can play them. Good Luck!

No it doesn't have to be fully charged as long as there is enough battery to turn on and play music it'll turn on it'll also remind you if the battery is low

You can just drag and drop the MP3 files into your MP3 folder

connect it to u r pc and copy the avi or mpg format files and paste it in the folder called videos in the recognized drive in u r pc

Turn on the player_slide power switch up_hold about 3 seconds, release

Scroll with <> to highligh hidden MediaLib Update
player rebuilds Music media database used in player
use Dir List to open the browser. Navigate to location of your music files

Use Explorer Icon to browse directory list and use Delete button (square with X) to delete Selected file in Explorer view.

In My Computer, Use Properties to Name (Label) your drives. You see name given in My Computer, makes much easier to locate files. For easier browsing in Windows try a Toolbar for My Computer(XP) or Computer (Vista, 7) to browse your devices (I have a Computer toolbar on the taskbar of Every Computer I use)

Open SMPK8858 in my computer, you see RECORDING folder
This was the only folder on mine when I started, and Sealed, Brand New unit came with NO SOFTWARE and microscopic manual

Create new file structure for storing your PHOTOS, VIDEOS, Ebooks etc. Don't place everything in one folder, use logical folders to store your files. Drag and Drop FILES into your folders in my computer, or create a shortcut on desktop to access your device when connected.

Well folks after thinking about this long and hard, I have finally figured this little device out. What we all though was a piece of junk works!! Just wish some directions would have been sent with the MP3 Player. All you need to do is simple make sure you have Real Player the SMPK 2021 is completely compatible with this player drag and drop your music and add to your device. It works great.. you can also delete any old music and upload new music but all needs to be done through your real player!! You can also add videos the same way!!! I am more than willing to help you out... took me long enough to figure it out, hate to see someone bang their head against a wall as much as I have.... so good luck My Mp3 is now rockin
