The 5532 has a button to the left of the power button that turns the touchpad on and off.

Yep - the mouse pad and other functions are controlled by the Fn key and usually one of the F_ keys. Check the book for your model or visit the web site. You're halfway there to solving the problem....nice job!

Acer 5532 Touch Pad Not Working

Here are a couple of ideas from a Google Search:

Press the key to the left of the On/Off button. The key has a picture of a finger pressing the touchpad. So simple, so elegant, so little information out there about it.

On my acer 5742-7645 my touchpad has stoped working?

Hi,

Just check for the key combination on your keyboard (ex. Fn + F4 or F5..depends on the what key was designed for the touchpad), the touchpad might be locked.

If it is not locked, reinstall the touchpad driver, but it this still doesn't work, boot to Safe Mode to check if it does. Touch pad still not responding in Safe Mode would mean hardware failure.

Hope this helps.

The touchpad and scroll on my acer aspire 5734z does not work

It sounds like you've accidentally locked the touchpad. To unlock it hit the Fn key (lower left corner, between the CTRL and WIN buttons, it should be labeled with blue Fn label) and F7. That's Fn+F7, press and hold the Fn key, and then hit and release the F7 key, and then release the Fn key. On my Aspire this is the combination to toggle on and off the touchpad. It may be a different combination on your laptop but the rule of thumb is that you need the Fn key and one of the F1-F12 keys. The correct Function key will be labeled with a rectangle and a hand over it, illustrating a touchpad. Once you locate the key, press it and the Fn key as I explained above, and that should be it.

My touchpad has stoped working on my Acer Aspire 5732 Z

Hello,

Sometimes it differs but you can try pressing FN and F7 together on your keyboard to see if that will enable the touchpad again.FN should be next to your left-ctrl on your laptop keyboard.

On other Acers, there's either a seperate button to enable the touchpad or a different Function key. See on your keyboard the function keys and choose the one that looks like a tochpad, with a pointing hand. Sometimes the icon on the key just looks like a mini-touch-pad.

Acer Aspire 5532 touchpad wont work at all. I had to use a usb mouse to be able to get online.

I just fixed this problem...the fn & f7 didnt work... at the top of computer where you turn the machine off and on - there is a button to the left. Press this button [not the on/off btn] and it should work.
