It is critical to note down the SSIS and system key before associating with a Brother printer. We will enable you to take care of the issues of investigating. So here's a simple method to interface Connect Brother Printer to MAC:-

  • Above all else, evacuate the intensity of your Brother printer from the electrical plug. Unplug the link of the interface, as well.
  • Switch the printer on and plug in the electrical plug now. Addition the CD into your printer's CD ROM drive.
  • Pursue the on-screen bearings to download the driver.
  • Reboot your printer so the recently introduced driver is perceived.

MACS are obviously different than PCs and have disparate operating systems.

Make sure you have the correct MAC drivers for your device. Check the Brother web site first and then the Apple site to look for tips or search their knowledge base.

How do i scan a document?

Hi, it all depends on the printer your using.

How to Scan a Document on a Multi-Function Printer

A multi-function printer with a scanner makes backing up your important documents easy. The scanner function of the printer allows you to translate a paper document like a receipt or title deed into an electronic copy that is stored on your computer. Once you have an electronic copy of your document, you can process and manipulate the document as you would any other electronic file. Follow these steps to scan a document on a multi-function printer:

Connect your multi-function printer and computer. Power them up.

Select the side of the document you are going to scan. Give the document a once-over, checking for any flaws that you do not want transferred into electronic form.

Open the printer's lid. Place the side of the document you want scanned face-down on the glass plate of your multi-function printer's scanning bed. Align the document to your satisfaction.

Close the printer's lid carefully. You may want to weigh the document down with another sheet of paper to prevent it from shifting.

Choose an appropriate scan resolution. You may have to do this using the controls of your printer or on the computer, depending on the model and software.

Press the scan button to start the process. This can be done on the printer itself or on the computer.

Preview the scan on your computer monitor. You should be able to make minor changes to the scanned image if needed.

Save the scanned image if you are satisfied with the result. Try again if you are not satisfied.

Tips & Warnings

Scanning documents at high resolution and low data compression will produce the best image quality at the cost of file size.

Not happy with a scan? Re-check the alignment of the document and try it again. Discard the duds when you get a scan that works for you.

Using harsh cleaning chemicals such as acetone or benzene can damage your multi-function printer. Abrasive cleaners are also not good on the machine, particularly the glass surface of the scanning bed.

....How to Scan a Document on an All-in-One Printer?

Scanning is a standard all-in-one printer feature that converts a hard-copy document into electronic information, which your computer can store and modify. You can scan legal files, office reports or just about any other kind of document and create an electronic backup for your files, send it as email or alter it to suit your needs. Follow these steps to scan a document on an all-in-one printer:

Turn on your all-in-one printer and computer. Check the connections between the two machines.

Lift the printer's document lid. Examine the scanning surface and the underside of the lid for dust and fingerprints.

Put the document you wish to scan face-down on the glass. Use the alignment markers to help you square up the object. These are usually found on the left-hand edge of the scanning area.

Close the printer's document lid slowly so the document does not shift position.

Select a scan resolution. The higher the dpi (dots per inch) count, the sharper and more detailed the image.

Push the scan button. You may have to do this on the printer itself or on your computer.

Check the preview of your scan on your computer. Depending on your all-in-one printer and software, you may have to prompt your computer to display the preview for you.

Edit the image as it appears on your computer if you want to make changes. Your scanning software might let you enlarge, resize or otherwise manipulate the final product.

Accept the scan and save. Return the original document to a safe location.

Hope it helps..

MCF 6490CW SCAN AS A PDF

I was trying to figure out how to scan multi-page documents to a single file and found this on the Brother website:

Double-click on the ControlCenter3 icon located in the Task Tray to launch the program window.

Click on CONFIGURATION -> SCAN.

Choose the type of scan you require. The choices are: IMAGE,
E-MAIL, and FILE.

The Scan to configuration window will appear.

The SOFTWARE BUTTON tab configures the Scan to button within theControlCenter3 software interface. The DEVICE BUTTON tab configures the Scan to key on the Brother machine. Choose the tab you want to configure.

Under FILE TYPE select an option that allows multi-page documents:

a) PDF (*.PDF)
b) Tiff Multi-Page # Uncompressed (*.tif)
c) Tiff Multi-Page # Compressed (*.tif)

Click OK.

HP PSC 2355 all-in-one scanning problem

hi shaundoyle -

first, I wanted to point you to HP's general support page for your model:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=422000&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

here is another link, this one to a doc for connecting to more than one HP product using a Mac:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=bpm01356&dlc=en&product=422000

here's a link to a doc about the scanning stopping:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00803473&dlc=en&product=422000

and yet another link, this one for probs printing through 'classic' applications:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00035422&dlc=en&product=422000

it sounds like one piece of software overwrote another, or your two pieces of hardware are fighting each other for your Mac's attention. hope this helps a little.

Unable to scan

I encountered the same problem (prints but won't scan) over a network connection. A download from Brother got it working again. The filename is BrRegDev.EXE and it is available free at:

http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/us/us/en/faq/faq/000000/000600/000037/faq000637_000.html?reg=us&prod=mfc7220_us_as&c=us&lang=en

If the link doesn't work, try searching for the filename using Google (for example).

XP Device Manager still lists "MFC-420CN LAN #2" (even though there has only ever been one), but at least it scans now.
