I have the same problem. Base rings, handset tells me it's 'connecting...' and I can only answer it once the answer machine picks up. Two of the other handsets just will not work at all sometimes. Phones are charged. Tried solution but handsets do not read de-registered. Would change batteries but don't want to spend money on four phones if that will not solve problem.

Step 1: Press and hold FIND HANDSET on the main telephone base for 10 seconds.

Step 2: When the IN USE light starts to flash, release the FIND HANDSET button.

Step 3: Press and release FIND HANDSET again. The IN USE light will turn off and in a few seconds, all handsets will be de-registered.

Step 4: All handsets will show NOT REGISTERED.

To register a handset (register 1 handset at a time):
Step 1: Place the handset in the base unit or a charger that is connected to a power outlet. If PRESS FIND HNDST 4 SEC ON BASE does not appear on the screen after a few seconds, lift up handset and place in base or charger again.

Step 2: On the telephone base, press and hold FIND HANDSET for four seconds. Release FIND HANDSET once the IN USE light comes on.

After a while the handset will emit a series of tones, the newly registered handset will be assigned the lowest extension number not previously assigned to another system handset (1-4) when successfully registered. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 if the handset does not successfully register to the telephone base within two minutes.

No calls in or out. I have internet connection. Why not phone?

if you have a land line for the phone system the internet uses the same wire as the phone but at different frequencies
the modem picks up this different frequency and so works the internet
the problem will be in the cable, cable socket or phone itself
pick up the hand piece and if you do not get a dial tone the it indicates that the phone unit is not making a circuit with the land line or the exchange to which it is connected ( different connections to internet) Try a neighbours phone connected to the wall socket and if that doesn't get a dial tone on that phone then contact the service provide and lodge a fault report for your phone
if it does then the problem will be in your unit, cables or socket connection.

Can not call out

how many phone lines do you have in your house? if you only have one, it sounds like something is wrong with the lone itself, on the carrier's end.....meaning the phone company needs to come inspect their switch.......if you try another phone and it works fine, then, the 1st phone was messed up, and shouldnt even be used anymore at all, just to simplify things.

something you can try, is make sure that you dont have anything that transmits an RF signal, near the phone base....like a wireless router, a cell phone and so on......try to change the channel on the phone if you can.

PROBLEM: Vtech phones are OK, but really, when it comes to electronics, you get what you pay for, so i would suggest just getting another phone. If you have DSL, make sure your filter is installed, and try a different filter if you have one...just make sure it is connected to your phone correctly. If a different pone gives you the same problem, contact your phone providers from another location and schedule a date for them to come check your lines out.

Phones stopped working. They only read

first step is to unplug all power and phone connections from the wall for all Vtech phones and bases.

Second, plug each set and base in the wall for power one at a time.

Go back to the basics and pair the handset with the base of the unit.

Do this for all sets one at a time.

Phones stopped working. They only read

I'm not familar with the Vtech but I would suspect that all 4 units work off of the answering machine base. It sounds like it is seeing a dial tone.
Take a working phones like the wall phone, if it is easily removed, and use a known good connecting cable between the good wall phone and the jack that the Vtech is plugged into.
If that works, take the connecting cable loose and replace it with the Vtech connecting cable. If that works check the jack on the Vtech for crossed wire. If non found, connect it to the jack the wall phone was plugged into. If this doesn't provide satisfaction, let me know exactly what you did and what happened and we will go from there.

Vtec 7100 won't connect to skype

1. Unplug and re-plug the usb cable from the base station to your Skype computer.

2. Make sure Skype is running.

3. Re-install the vtech software (you can download it at http://www.vtechphones.com if you need to)

4. When Skype asks if it's ok to let it connect, do that.

I have a vtech 5.8ghs and both the base phone and the auxiliary have the same problem. I am able to get incoming call and receive messages. However, I am unable to have my voice heard when I try to...

Reset the phone by unplugging BOTH the adaptor and the phone line (the phone gets some power from the phone line). after you have done that put each hand set into the main base till the lite flickers (not the charging stand)... phone should be good to go after that

Vtech 5.8 GHz and says cant connect

Mine turned out to be not getting power from the surge protector.  Plugged it into the wall and it worked again.  If the power light is off to the base station it is not getting power and won't connect.  I know this is a duh, but I missed it.  Probably not what is wrong with yours.
