Will Not play the Blu-Ray disc

First of all, I'm not a gamer. I bought a Playstation 3 because I was told if I was going to get a Blu-Ray Disc Player, Play Station 3 was the best. I put a Blu-Ray disc in and this is the message I get - TO PLAY THIS BD, YOU MUST RENEW THE ENCRYPTION KEY. PERSFORM A SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPDATE TO RENEW THE ENCRYPTION KEY. I am lost - I don't know what to do to play the Blu-Ray disc I put in the Play Station 3. I put another Blu-Ray disc in and it played immediately but when I put this one in, I get the above message. Please help me.

It's all about DRM(Digital Rights Management). Here's how Blu-ray works. A Blu-ray playback device, say, the PS3, only have temporary rights to play movies as their encryption key will expire after a certain period of time. The only way for you to keep playing the newest movies with your Blu-ray playback device is to update and keep up with the newest firmware.

You need to use wifi or cable to get your PS3 online and update the software to renew the latest AACS encryption key to play your Blu-ray disc. You can also choose to rip Blu-ray to MP4 for convenient playback of the movie on your PS3 with a USB drive. Learn how to convert Blu-ray to MP4 here: How to Rip and Convert Blu ray to MP4 with Blu ray to MP4 Converter

Works with most Sony Players

Step 1
Unplug the power cord of the Sony Blu-ray player. Plug the power cord back in. Turn on the Sony Blu-ray player. Turn on the TV to which the Sony Blu-ray player is attached. Wait for the "No Disc" text to appear on the front of the Sony's LCD display and on the TV's screen.

Step 2
Press the "Eject" button on the remote control. Wait for the disc tray to eject itself from the front of the Sony Blu-ray player.

Step 3
Press the "Disc Info" button on the remote control. Look for a number to appear on one of the upper corners of the screen of the TV.

Step 4
Press the "Disc Info" button repeatedly until the number "9" appears on the TV's screen. This number indicates that the Sony Blu-ray player is now set for "multi-region" and will play any Blu-ray disc that is commercially made.

Step 5
Turn the Sony Blu-ray player off using the remote control. Turn the Sony Blu-ray player back on using the remote control. Press the "Eject" button on the remote control to close the disc tray. Turn the Sony Blu-ray player off using the remote control.

Won't play a blue ray disc

The blueray eye is out. You will need a new blueray player. The only problem with that is the ps3 will only respond with the orginal parts it came with. ( i.e. motherboard blueray player ) So the best bet is to buy a broken blueray player and take the eye out and replace it with yours just the eye not the whole thing.

It's something about the Burlesque dvd. I have the same problem with mine when I try and play it on my Sony blue-ray player. It's the only disc I have that it won't play. Disc is a DVD Video disc but it will no't play in the Sony player. It plays fine on other dvd players and my computer, but not on the Sony.

PS3 WON'T PLAY BLU-RAY DISCS

The problem is all in the settings. You probably have a 1080i television that cannot display in 1080p. To fix this go to the main menu and go to:

Settings:

Video Settings

Then Blu Ray Disc and make it turn the Display BD in 1080p 24hz or whatever. Once you do that, start the Blu Ray Disc again, and you should be able to watch it. This all happened because your tv doesn't display 1080p.

Hope this helps!

Blu-ray disc

Hey jude06,

In order to play Blu-Ray discs, you must unfortunately own a Blu-Ray player. Neither HD-DVD players nor Progressive Scan/Upconvert DVD players are capable of playing the discs, and standard DVD players are not able to recognize information on the discs due to how they are constructed.

Please keep in mind that there are always a number of options available to you, should you consider purchasing a Blu-Ray player. While the average asking price with many retailers for stand-alone Blu-Ray players is between $300.00 and $500.00, you can typically obtain an internal Blu-Ray drive for your computer for considerably less. Additionally, the Playstation 3 may also be a viable alternative - the current 40GB model not only plays Blu-Ray discs, but also has the added perk of being a video game console for around the same price as the average stand-alone Blu-Ray player.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
