Powa Force drill charger is dead

The charger died shortly after it was used the first time - My guess is that the board is faulty because nothing shorted and the unit is clean but the light doesn't go on.

Does anyone know where I can get it repaired in Durban?

It is a 21.6V PF21.6VH

Powaforce battery charger.

  1. Measure the dc output (with multimeter) on female plug. Should read ±16 – 20V DC. If no voltage here open charger and measure 220v AC on input wire before transformer. No voltage faulty input cable or 3pin plug. If ok check for dc voltage after transformer. If transformer faulty (not worth repairing) replace with same dc volts and amp (important)output. Check now output cable.
  2. If voltage is on cable but base does not light up, probable faulty capacitor. If light is on but does not charge, probable rectifier that gives too little amps.
  3. Any good tv repair technician can help you. My tv tech already fix about 9 of my torch and drill chargers. Parts usually about R5 – R10.
ps. email me the specs of your charger the input, output, the current (MA) and the voltage 14.v or 21v to [email protected]

How can you say its nothing shorted?did you check the parts and its all good?maybe you are looking for a sign of burned on the board but you cant see errors and you can find nothing if there is a shorted or defected electronic parts,by means of just looking it unless you are going to use a multi-tester.
if you still didn't check the parts, try to test the diodes, transistors & resistors..these 3 electronics parts are commonly have the risk of malfunctioning.
also, get attention to the charger wire/conductors if there is a cut inside it or the fuse might be opened.

Why roomba clean for 2 minutes then returns to dock?

I suspect the battery is about dead. It keeps coming back for more power.

Run it away from it's charger, force it to run until it dies. Put it onto it's charger and let it charge a long time (Solid green light). Then run it again till it dies and repeat. This will perhaps force the battery to develop a longer memory

I have craftsmen 19.2 volt tools while using the electric sander my batteries have died and when i put them in the charger the green indicator light comes on saying they are fully charged , when in reality...

It sounds like your charger is faulty. Try to measure the voltage of the batteries. If the nominal (workingh voltage of the batteries are 19,2 volt, then they should invrease to about 22 volt while in the charger. If the voltage does shoot up when the charger is on, maybe even to 25 volts, (which should turn the green light on) the new battries are dead!
It happens!
The other possibility is that the batteries are OK & fully charged!
But!
Your sander is damaged. Again, try & measure the voltage in the sander, before & after you switch it on. A large drpop in voltasge can indicate the sander drawing too much current. Also try them in another machine if you can.

I've got a Bosch ps30 drill that uses bat411

Directions say green light indicates that the battery is fast charging only,it does not indicate at exact point of full charge. I let my batteries charge for 12 hours for the first time charging, found out myself the same way. Try that and you will notice the difference.

Rather than try to repair it or look into it, call the dealer or take it back to him as you will invalidate your warranty if you do anything to the unit, and that is not worth it. Let the dealer worry about it. It is probably the transformer, but if it is new, just take it back. (Hi from Benoni)

Hi, my drill has just stopped working i have changed the battery but it seems dead ?? the drill is about 3 years old but has only been used a hand full of times as it a personal home diy tool ?????

When you put the battery in the charger, does the light go on? The charger has lights to indicate whether the battery is fully charged or not. If it is dead when you put it in the charger and remains that way after one hour, you can be pretty sure that the battery is dead. If there are NO lights on the charger, plug it into a different outlet and recheck. Not using the drill for long periods of time is really not good for the battery. The drill is probably ok, but the charger or battery could be the problem.

Can a bad ryobi 18 drill ruin a new 18volt ryobi battery

If the drill has a short in it, then yes, it could short the battery out. Probably in the trigger switch.

I have a Skil 2362 7.2v drill that goes dead when charged

Sounds like the trigger switch is bad. If you know the charger is good and it is charging the battery, then it must be the switch. I suggest you take the charged battery and test it with a multimeter for the 7.2V. If the battery is dead, then check the charger.
Take it back to Lowes and get a different brand.
