Why is my Hoshizaki ice machine evaporator frozen

Why is my older Hoshizaki ice machine (unknown model) evaporator frozen solid including water tub below evaporator. Hopefully, cleaning will help but I don't see how cleaning would prevent tub water from freezing solid too.

If the defrost/hot cycle doesn't work, the ice won't fall and eventually freeze everything.

Testimonial: "Thanks, I should have indicated that this machine is water-cooled & problem does not develop until bin is full of ice; does your solution still apply?"

well, yes and no. there should be a limit switch or shield that stops ice production when the bin is full. otherwise the ice will pile up and eventually stop the new ice from dropping. if it stays on the coils when new water comes down, everything will freeze up. also, there should be an ice thickness probe near the top. when the ice gets thick enough to touch the probe, it goes into the drop cycle. if the probe is broken or bent way out, it'll keep running water and freezing. so, check those and let me know.

Bob,

You need to back down your bin switch a bit which is a thermostatic switch,

also, there is a microswitch on the white ( cleaning switch) with closes off the compressor while cleaning.

Now you must turn the switch ALL the way when cleaning to activate the microswitch which is behind the white know................OHM it out to see if it is working,

If it does not ohm out, then you need to change the micro switch or "cherry switch",

if the problem still develops, then you need to try to adjust your water valve ( you said it was water cooled), if it STILL is freezing up, then you need a new universal board = $189.99,

Good Luck,
Daniel

My hoshizaki ice machine is making ice but water filling up in the bin with the water. What do we do?

Your Hoshizaki ice maker's water level sensor is probably broken if it produces ice but also fills the bin with water. You must make sure the water level sensor is connected properly and working in order to resolve this.
The sensor might need to be replaced even if it is attached and working properly. You should be able to do this yourself because Hoshizaki ice machines are fortunately simple to repair and maintain.
If everything else fails, you can always get aid from a specialist.
Ultimately, it's crucial to confirm that your Hoshizaki ice maker is operating correctly. After all, nobody enjoys drinking water that is only warm.

My hoshizaki ice machine KM-900mrf model beeps 3 times and stop making ice. After reset it starts, but stats beeping again after an hour.

Have a look at the side of the evaporator; there is a probe (thermistor) attached to it that tells the control board when to initiate the harvest cycle. make sure it's clean and attached properly and doesn't need replacing. If hitting the float switch initiates the harvest cycle it sounds like you have a blocked/ scaled water tube or switch housing. take off the bottom of the switch assembly (black rubber bit) and clean through to the water chamber. run a cycle of descaler before trying again.

check for a stuck water float. this usually, in most cases, is the issue.

Hoshizaki M# DCM-270BAH-OS runs for days then freezes up evap coil and stops water inlet to evap.

There is a thermostat probe sat on the front of the evaporator to tell the control board when to harvest. Check it is tight in it's holder. Check the condenser is absolutely clean and filters clear. You can adjust the thickness of the cube. set it on the thinnest setting and see if it harvests before freezing solid.

We have a hoshizaki ice machine 901mwh the ice cubs seems to be getting stuck in the evaporator area and pileing up on it self and freezing bake up

The main problem with Hoshizaki machines is if you are in a hard water area, if so do you have a good quality water filter, it may need changing. A quick way to check for calcium ot lime deposits in the machine is
1. Turn it off, run you clean hand around the area near the evaporator, are there any rough or flaky deposits there, if so you may need a chemical descale, contact a reputable fridge guy to do this for you.
2. The swinging arm motor may be faulty or possibly the ice sensor which controls the harvest cycle. If this is faulty sometimes the tray goes back up before the ice has slid off.
3. If the machine is situated in a cellar or other cool (less than 10 deg C / 50 deg f) this can sometimes affect the harvest cycle again to set this you need a tradesman.
4. Does the water flow properly over the lower part of the mould plate during a harvest cycle, the pipe can become blocked or dislodged.

Hope this is helpful

Hoshizaki KM-900MAH Ice Maker it sounds like it is making ice and is freezing it but its not dropping ice any solutions?

Do you hear the machine cycling like normal but just not dropping? Could be the hot gas solenoid. If you never hear it trying to drop that could be anything from a dirty condenser to dirty plates to bad ice thickness control. Run some ice machine cleaner through it and blow the condenser out.

Hoshizaki IM-240DME no harvest time.

are you sure this is a Hoshi and not a Cold Draft? Your model number in not in any of my manuals and the Hoshi tech site has no listing for such a machine.
Double check it.
