Leaking sub zero 650

I fixed my leaking problem by pulling out the vegetable drawer and checking the condensation drain hose. Sure enough, it was clogged and the condensation had nowhere to go but move out toward the front of the fridge, down the left side and onto the floor. Once that drain hose was cleared (with a bendable straw), no more leak!

My problem was also related to the condensation drain being clogged. I tried the flexible straw but that did not remove enough of the gunk. My 10 year old suggested a very narrow baby bottle type cleaner which worked like a charm. A pipe cleaner may also work. Also, you can remove the top of the tube by pulling it down. It is easier to clean that way then reconnect it when finished cleaning. Try flushing it out with water from a ziploc bag to ensure it is no longer clogged. Good Luck!

My subzero 601 full fridge unit was leaking also and I did what was suggested by removing the vegie drawer and cleaning out the hose - solved the problem. It was clogged with all kinds of junk. I used one of those flexible drain haIr cleaner things and it worked great, flushed with water and so far so good. I would never have thought of it if I hadn't read it here. Thanks!

Yep #4 and #6 solved it for me. Tray and tube were gunky. Cleaned out with improvised bottle brush made of a loop of lamp cord and twisted paper towel. Saved a service call, thanks!

Take out vegetable drawer, pull off the hose and blow through it.
My Sub 650 has had nothing but stupid problems like this, I will never get another Sub Zero

I had the same problem. . Kept finding puddles of water on my hard wood floor under the freezer drawed. Refrig. was on 7 setting and maybe it got too cold and froze the line. There was some ice around the drain pipe. We melted the ice with a dryer then slid the flexable drain pipe down, shot hot water from a spray bottle and all was clear. Thanks everyone. This was quick and easy and I would have had to call a repair man (on a holiday weekend with a housefull of guests) had it not been for this web site.

Yes! thanks so much- leaky condensation hose was the problem and all the tips on here helped us fix it ourselves.
Sometimes Ice gets stuck in the dispenser and that causes water to leak- which can sometimes be the cause but this time it was not.

Just checked mine out after reading all the posts. I used hot water -cleaning concentrate and weed eater line .120.Looks like my wife will be a happy camper once again.

My 12 year old 650 started making puddles on the floor. Following the above suggestions, I checked the condensation drain behind the veg tray. It was iced over and a sheet of ice had formed on the floor pan. I removed the veg tray and then pulled the drain tube away from the gutter, then tried to clear the tube. It full of ice. I boiled some water and dropped a towel halfway into it, then wrapped the hot part of the towel around the drain tube. The ice melted in a a few minutes. I poked a flexible plastic soda straw into the tube and pulled it out with some goop stuck to the end. I did this several times until the no more goop came out. I put some of the hot water to a measuring cup and with a funnel, poured a little down the drain tube. It drained quickly. I repeated the hot pour a few times until it looked like the clog was cleared. I chipped away the ice from the pan with a plastic spatula, cleaned everything off, and replaced the tray. Problem solved.

As someone mentioned above, the putty that seals the wires and refrigerant lines can dry out and leak air.
In my 561, the evaporator kept freezing up. The evaporator fan (inside, at the top of the fridge) seemed to be working. I could see and hear the fan if I pressed the top right door switch (fan switch.) However, I suspected that the fan was failing intermittently, since the symptoms indicated lack of air circulation past the evaporator. Once I disassembled the fridge and accessed the fan, there was a big clue as to the problem-- a bunch of dust inside the fan diffuser box. I'd seen plenty of grime inside fridges in the past, but not dust! It was exactly the same black dust that collects on the condenser and throughout the compressor compartment. The sealing putty around the holes for the wires and tubing was dried out and leaking warm dusty air from the compressor compartment. The leak cause 2 problems: less circulation across the evaporator and more moisture (humidity) inside the fridge. These combined to cause the evaporator to freeze solid, stopping air circulation completely.
After totally defrosting the evaporator with a heat gun (keep it moving!), I added fresh putty to both sides of the holes and now it is working properly and probably a LOT more efficiently.
That unit was at my rental property. I also have a 561 at home. I checked the putty on the compressor side, since it's relatively easy to access. It had also started to dry out. I'm not sure if it had been leaking air yet, but I added plenty of extra fresh putty.
CONCLUSION: If you own a Sub Zero 561, I recommend checking the putty seals!

I had the same problem: water dripping from below the veggie drawer. I found ice build-up around the drain opening. I thawed it with a hairdryer and all was fine. But, I've now had to do this twice. Is there a more permanent fix? For example, is there a temperature setting I need to change?

Mine did it. The whole unit was replaced. The floor was messed up and sub zero was litle help. Their insulation gave out.

Check to see if the drain pan is cracked. If so order a new one.

LET UNIT DEFROST COMPLETELY AND CLEAN COILS AND FREON LEVEL CHECKED
