I found what almost looks like a safety of some sort inside... but haven't pulled everything apart to see what it might be.... but it is whats leaking... any suggestions?

Hi mandilyn,

underneath your vaccum there is a brush that rotates round maybe stuck with bit`s of carpet turned round your brush just remove it by cutting with something sharp that should free your brush and your vaccum should work fine.

Could be plugged, check the hose and at the bottom by the brush roll, the inlet maybe clogged. Also check the filter under neath the dirt tank. There are filters above the dirt container, clean those out. If after that it is still loud, then maybe the motor fan or bearins are bad and will have to be replaced, part #2031214 sells for around $55.

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

Most of the time, cleaning the filters, checking for blockages and clearing the passageways will eliminate the noise. Vacuum sounds like an airplane after 1 year of use.

the motor bearings are starting to fail most likely. You can diagnose the source of the noise by removing the brushroll and belt, could possibly be the brushroll bearings but if you still get the noise when the belt is off its the motor.

MY HOOVER VACCUM MODEL #U5185-900 IS MAKING A LOUD VIBRATING NOISE AND I CANT FIX IT, IT STILL PICKS UP STUFF BUT THE NOISE IS UNBEARABLE. cAN YOU HELP ME

t could be 1 of 3 things:

1. The belt2_bing.gif that drives the beater bar.
2. An impeller that has a broken wing or 2, throwing it off balance.
3. Or, the bearings in the motor are going out.

Hope this helps,

Jim

My vacuum makes a loud noise like a soccer horn going off, and neighbors are yelling at me for it! how do i make it quiet? its a bissel.

If you haven't changed the belt recently I would try that. Worn belts can cause funny noises sometimes. You can get Bissell replacement belts here:

It makes a very loud noise and doesnt pick up much

When they make noise like that there is usually an issue with the drive system (the belt and roller brush). I would try cleaning off the roller brush and putting a new belt on. You can access the roller brush and belt by turning the vacuum over so the brush faces up. There is a cover plate over the roller brush which can be removed by removing the (4) phillips screws. with the cover plate off, you can remove the brush and old belt. clean the brush off really good and put it back with a new belt. This is normal maintenence for this model and should be done every 6 months.
You can get the replacement belt here:

I have a Dyson vacuum cleaner ...upright....all of a sudden my vacuum started making this awful sound...like a loud buzz...but only when I have it on carpet....when I have it on "floor" mode it's...

it may just be, that on carbet the brushes make noise that you dont hear on woodfloors.
If there is a hights adjustment, set it higher for shaggy carpet and lower for berber.
