There is a solution to this. Buy a PCI LAN card and before you insert it into the computer, boot up and go into the BIOS and disable the
on-board network card and save the setting and shut down.
Insert the LAN card, boot up and install the LAN card driver and configure the LAN card as instructed by the ISP tech person.

I am using acer aspire M5800 for about 1 year 3 months. Just yesterday, i cannot connect to the internet at my home desktop using my ethernet adapter. I contact my internet provider, it says that the lan...

Please check your device manager, and look for the Network Adapters to see the status of your Network Card. First check if it is detected in the Network Adapter, If there is a yellow expression mark near it then you may need to reload the driver. Otherwise you can do a ping 127.0.0.1 on a command prompt (DOS) if it replies back then your Network Card is working finely.
Cheers.

My computer ideapad lenova,i am not able to connect to internet, one IT specialist told me that my slot for inserting cable is bad what to do i am now in china Ghanzhou city

Do you mean the slot?
Is it the cable that goes into the LAN port?
If so you can use a LAN PCMCIA card and connect the LAN cable into this card.
OR
You can connect to the Internet using a USB 3G adapter which uses the cell phone network with a cell phone provider.

I have a old toshiba T215OCDT laptop and i am trying to get on the internet it has not got any usb ports it has got etherlink 111 LAN PC Card

You can connect to the Internet using a LAN cable from the computer's LAN PC card and connect it a DSL or cable modem. Contact a Internet Service Provider and select a plan that suits your requirements. The Internet Service Provider may also supply this broadband modem with the plan.

My dell lan card is not working,i cannot connect to internet.

Either the LAN card is faulty or the LAN driver is not installed and/or not configured properly or the LAN cable is faulty.
Check Device Manager to see if the LAN driver is installed, working and enabled. If not then re-install the LAN card driver.
If the LAN driver won't install or detect the LAN card then it maybe faulty and needs to be replaced.
Try a different LAN cable.
Is all the LEDs on in the modem?
Try rebooting the modem (power it off for 30 secs and power it up again).

How a conect to internet

METHOD 1 - Using Internet connection using DSL or cable connection.
1st. If you wish to connect to the Internet with a LAN cable or a wirelessly and if your computer doesn't have a LAN card or wireless LAN card you need to purchase a LAN card (to configure the wireless router) and if you want a wireless connection you will also need to purchase a wireless LAN card.
2nd. You need to select an Internet Service Provider in your area with a plan and cost to suit your requirements.
3rd. You need to decide what type of broadband connection you need, DSL or cable modem with or without a built-in wireless router, the Internet Service Provider can assist you with this.
5th. The Internet Service Provider can supply these items or advise you what make and model to purchase. They will also provide information on how to connect and setup your Internet connection.

METHOD 2 - Using USB wireless adapter that plugs into the laptop's USB port. It doesn't need a wireless router or a cable or DSL modem.
This is used mostly on laptop computers which allows Internet access anywhere the Internet Service Provide has a wireless transmitter. It uses the G3 mobile system.
This type of service usually costs more and again you need to select an Internet Service Provider that can provide the wireless coverage, the plan and costs that suit your requirements.
Installation and setting up information is supplied by the ISP.

Definition of the sound card, internet lan & wireless lan

The definition of the sound card, is a chipset integrated into the main board of your laptop, in order to provide sound to your built-in speakers, or to the headphone jack on your laptop. Internet LAN (or Local Area Network) is a port located either on the side or the rear of your computer, where you would plug in a Cable/DSL High-Speed Internet connection, using an Ethernet cable (also called RJ-45). Wireless LAN is the same idea, only instead of using an ethernet cable to provide you access to the internet, it uses a wireless signal or radio frequency, to connect to a wireless access point (usually provided by a wireless router in the area). More in-depth information can be found at the following links:

How to setup network adaptor

Hi there,

Technically you should provide 'IP Address" to your network card. Generally IP address is provided by the ISP (Internet Service Provider) provider you are using.

Once you get the ip address you can configure it by right clicking on the my network>properties>TCP/IP setting.

This will work.

Not sure if i got dsl-924 set up right it keeps loosing internet connection

If ur internet connection is unconnected in between intervals of some 5 to 10 minutes, then it may be problem of ur MODEM or LAN card. The cable may be loose or the device may be faulty. The DSL link setup is perfectly OK. try changing ur MODEM/LAN card with other one.

Network problems connecting to internet

Hi. If Dell is correct, then yes, it would be expensive. Your other alternative is to buy a PCMCIA Ethernet Card. They range from about $20 to $40. Or, you could go with what you suggested and do wireless via a wireless router.
