I have a Maytag super capacity plus oven. The broiler or top flames work fine. The bake setting or lower flames is acting up. it smells of gas. it slow to start and smells of gas. sometimes it doesnt start and smells of gas. sometimes it heats for a little goes off and take a little long to come on and smells of gas. takes real long to reach set temperture. some days it works fine. is this thermostat or ignitor or something more serious.
SOURCE: F2 error code
Similar problem. When baking over 400 degrees we get the F2 code that can only be reset by cycling the power at the breaker. Replaced the electonics to no avail. I'm thinking its the cooling fan located between the oven and microwave (upper unit) it never comes on which may cause a separate temp switch to generate the F2... but I'm not a pro. :)

CHECK THE IGNITOR, IT SHOULD BE GLOWING ORANGE BEFORE GAS IGNITES. IF NO GLOW, REPLACE IGNITOR.
SOURCE: Maytag gas oven slow to ignite, makes poof sound
sounds like the safety valve gas regulator (its where the main gas line attaches in the bottom back)
SOURCE: maytag gas oven wont restart after pre heat
you have a bad oven sensor /faulty connection or bad control board.look for probe coming thru inside rear wall.should read 11k ohms cold.go bad a lot part number Hope this helps ,please rate my response :)
