Miele S514 Solaris Turbo Plus Vacuum Logo
Anonymous Posted on Nov 30, 2009

5 yr. old Miele s514 Turbo plus's power nozzle brush seems to disengage temporarily, stopping the spin. Then it seems to re-seat itself after a few seconds, then starts spinning OK. I keep the nozzle brush very clean, so there is no hair or yucky stuff to cause it to jam. Please help.

I had a White Pearl with same problem. As I moved the hose/wand the brush motor would start stop. Find out where the circuit opens up by holding one part and moving the part that connects to it - 1) where the hose plugs into the cleaner, 2) the swivel connection at the cleaner, or 3) the swivel connection where the wand plugs in. There are brass bands around the hose with brass "fingers" to make electrical contact. Mine had a bunch of gunk, dust, corrosion on the band at the end of hose that plugs into the cleaner. Pulled it apart and now it works like a champ. A bit tricky to get the pieces apart (hidden plastic clips which you don't want to break), but it can be done.

Miele S514 Turbo red light on. Dismantled and cleaned. Motor checked and no resistance. Circuit board? Can it be be replaced or by passed?

If there is a circuit board between the cord and the motor it is certainly replaceable. Unfortunately my suppliers don't have schematics for the Miele models. You might try the Miele website, if there is one, or call your local repair shop to see if they service them. Sorry I can't be more help.

Miele power nozzle quits after 10 seconds of working.

Even though the brush is spinning, you probably need to replace the belt2_bing.gifbecause it is stretched. It is probably slipping on the beater bar.

Power head stopped working could it be the switch? could it be the motor? thanks

If its an electric head switch it off and remove the screws underneath or if it has a slide out cartridge check that the brush isn't clogged with dust. Sometimes the toothed belt can come undone if there's an obstruction.

Miele vacuum cord reel question

I had to take off the cord reel and clean the contacts inside it. I also bent the contacts out since they tend to wear down after time.

Miele solaris turbo plus S514 will not start in live outlet

The reason why the vacuum will not start is because of the cord winder. They are pretty tricky to repair yourself. A service center could probably fix it for about $50.00. It has been a while since I have worked on one of these but I think the screws are under the switch and maybe the filter.
