Makes a loud noise like a grinding noise then smokes comes out and it smells like burning rubber? When I take the (rod) brush off with the belt then run the vacuum there is no more noise? Please help me thank you

Is the brushbar free to turn? Belts dont burn up if everything is moving freely

what does the really loud noise sound like? Is it a loud, whining sound? if so, the motor may be getting ready to go out. Also check that the belt isn't stuck-though you would smell burning rubber if that were the case.

There are no belts lol. Its a carpet shampooer

rollers are probably stuck the belt is burning check for restrictions in you hoses as well as in the vacuum as well if nothing else works a repairman

SOUNDS LIKE YOUR BELT IS BURNT OUT, YOU'LL NEED TO TAKE OUT AND REPLACE. Try Sears for this part. An inexpensive part.

Check your filter and also check that nothing got pulled into the motor...otherwise the motor is burning up and will need to be replaced... probably cheaper to replace the whole vacuum..

No Brand? I think you mean big noise and smoke? Smoke can be from a burning belt or dying motor. If it smells like burning rubber you likely have something jamming the brush roll. Otherwise suspect the bang came from a motor fan. Do not attempt to run. disassemble and inspect

sounds like you have something stuck in the beater bar/roller and the belt is slipping. You're probably going to have to take it out and replace the belt. Also check for wads in the passages.

the ends of the roller have something wrapped around them.see if you can pull the ends off so you clean the caps and bearings
