A205-s4797 Charger not charging

I use my laptop everyday I the past 2 years never had a problem. All of a sudden when I onnected my charge to my laptop for some reason I noticed the orange light did not turn on when the charger was connected. I didn't think anything of it until my battery was dieing. I tried various electrical outlets and nothing still does not charge and orange light stays off. I tried another power supply and light still stays off and never charges. Any suggestions? Should I just send it in? It's still under warranty.

If it's still under warranty I would send it in. My friend had that dead charger with an HP laptop, and they replaced it for free. And chargers sometimes die, especially after constant use.

But besides potentially getting free charger replacement, there's another more serious reason to send it in. If it turns out the charger isn't broken, it could be your laptop. It isn't uncommon for laptops DC power jacks (where the power cord plugs into) to become damaged. This is very serious because if you keep attempting to charge it when the jack is damaged the motherboard can be damaged. Fixing the jack is not as bad/expensive as getting a whole new motherboard.

Hope this helps!

Acer 4830 battery suddenly dead

Your battery is still alive, the problem is in the laptop, it may have a blown resistor or charging ic. I can bypass these parts tru jumpering if ever these parts are not available in the electronics store. Now, take the laptop in the computer repair shop nearest you for this is a hardware related problem.

My battery charges but only lasts about 20 minutes once it says it is fully charged. Just purchsed a new battery thinking it was old (laptop is about 3 years old) and the same thing happens.

From what you describe and assuming the new battery was "new", I'd say you have an internal short which is draining the battery over a short period of time. I'd also investigate the accuracy of the battery charge indicator. Download this free utility which will give you a more accurate picture of your battery:

I'm assuming you gave the battery a "commissioning charge" when you bought and used it?
If not, this is something you should do with all new LI batteries. This bit is reproduced from a website that sells batteries for the Toshiba satellite series:

"2. The new Toshiba Satellite a205-s4777 battery pack needs to be circled (fully discharged and recharged) three to five times to reach its optimum performance.
3. Toshiba Satellite a205-s4777 battery will undergo self-discharging when left unused for a long period of time. Thus, it should always be stored in a fully charged state and kept in a cool, dry and clean place.
4. It is normal if the new Toshiba Satellite a205-s4777 battery gets warm when being charged or used. However, please pay special attention if the battery pack becomes excessively hot. This may indicate there is a problem with the charging circuit of the electronic device. Please consult a qualified technician if necessary.
5. To maintain the optimum performance of Toshiba Satellite a205-s4777 battery pack, it is highly recommended to circle (fully discharging and recharging) it at least once a month.
6. New batteries are hard to be charged. Sometimes, your electronic device may indicate a fully charged condition about 10 to 15 minutes when Toshiba Satellite a205-s4777 battery pack is being charged for the first time. When this happens, remove the battery pack and let it cool down for about 10 to 15 minutes then repeat the charging procedure. Sometimes, the new Satellite a205-s4777 battery will suddenly refuse to be charged. If this happens, a suggested solution is trying to remove the battery from the device and insert it again. "

When I turn my computer on, the screen flickers and then goes black.

1. Check you batteries to see if it is fully charged.
2. Then check the power adapter to see if you are getting a charge to the battery.
3. It sounds like the battery is not charge or has a dead cell in it.

When i plug in my toshibba satellite a205, the plug light turns on, but the batery charge lights flashes just once, then goes off. my battery says 2%, not charging. is it a battery or combination laptop...

True turning it on while pluged in but without the battery in. If it works its your battery if not it is you charger or laptop, my bet is on the charger they have a tendancy to go out.

I have dell vostro 1400 laptop.when my latop charger is plugged in laptop is charged but as suddenly when i unplugged charger laptop is shutdown no battry is charged what is the problem?

You have either a faulty/worn out battery or a faulty charging circuit.
Recharageable battery have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and over the years the battery life gets shorter and shorter until it is worn out and won't charge any more.
If the battery is more than 2 years old then the battery is most likely worn out and needs to be replaced.
