Door Lock? The driver side door lock only goes down all the way (and locks) when the door is closed. If the door is open, the lock thingy aonly goes down halfway and hence the door doesn't even lock. What's happening? Its a 1991 Honda Accord EX-R.

This is not a problem, it is a feature. its purpose is to try and make it harder to lock your keys in your car. try this: with the door open, pull the inner door handle like you are opening the door. with the handle pulled, lock the door. it will lock.

Driver side door is frozen open with lock closed. Try to close door and it bounces back. Unlocking with key or with auto-lock does nothing. Key turns, lock button goes up and down, but mechanism does not...

Give the locking "jaws" a good dose of WD-40 and start with a pair of pliers ans working the door handle get the "jaws" moving and work it a lot while keep dousing it with the lubricant. Worst case scenario would be that the spring that opens the jaws is broken and will need replaced. Please rate this answer, thanks.

Driver door won't close 1999 ford contour

Drivers side door will not close because, it might have dropped out of alignment and is sagging down slightly!!! or if it has electric door locks, and someone in the family has failed to mention door locks were activated while that one door was still open!!! now lock mechanism has passed it's normal stopping place and is now stuck, therefore already locked and not allowing door to close all the way!! you might try disconnecting battery then try jiggling the lock, and hope silenoid didn't get burned out, open passenger door and look at lock latch, then check drivers side lock latch!!! if your lucky lock latch should unlock when battery is hooked back up. i have seen this problems happen often on older vehicles!!! especially on cars or trucks that have been in fender benders.........body shops know what to check for, they fix problems like this often!!!!! Good luck!!

1998 Taurus SE warning chime beeps as you get in the driver door

Hi John,

Had a similar problem with my Saturn. Door chime going all the time, the seat belts going up - down - up for no apparent reason.

Turned out to be the switch in the door jamb had become unseated. As it randomly made and broke contact, the cars computer thought the doors were opening and closing, then acted accordingly.

I remounted it with the help of a hot glue gun (plastic mount).

Hope this info helps with your problem.

Best regards
Mike

My driver side door wont open how do i get it

sounds like the door lach is sticking
use some wd40 spray the lock and let it sit 4 a while
now since you have the inside skin off reach inside the door with 1 hand and try and open the door from the outside and see if the lock bar moves it usualy pushes down i think on a lach
if it goes up and down with no resistance make sure it is contacting the lach if yes make sure the door is unlocked
somtimes the lock is just stuck
after unlock open the door
push down on lock bar attached to lock then pull up on it if that fails to open door
after that all fails unlock door have friend pull handle and then give the door a good kick from inside just remember not the kick the glass

Spring lock thingy *chuckle*

the inner door lock assembly.unscrew door handle window winder handle and unscrew lock knob.door panel should be held on by plastic push on plugs, pull off from the bottom up ,remove screws, if any. When plugs have been seperated lift panel upwards to clear top of inner door panel.Undo inner door handle and release from lock joiner rod.close to the inner door handle is a plastic rod link should be white rotate outer part until its released.the door lock<key>has a plate holding it to the door remove it and remove the lock from the rod.Remove outr door handle and remove from the rod At the bottom of the door is a bolt holding the window channel, remove the channel by unbolting, pull back window rubber and wiggle steel channel down until it slides out so the inner lock can be accessed.Remove the three large screws holding the outer door lock.it should be able to be removed. place the locks next to each other so you dont mix up the rods when you swap them over.assembly is the reverse order wind the window all the way up before you start.

2004 Civic Drivers door lock

The driver's side door lock button is designed not to lock from the inside unless the handle is pulled, or the power switch is used. This serves as a reminder to not lock your keys inside.

If you are inside, and push down on the button (not the switch) hard enough to lock it, you've probably damaged it.
