1. the newstar universal tv remote contrlol i bought, cannot change the channel, although i can use the adding/minus the volume. 2. in as much as wanted to use also for te change of channel, i follow...

Unfortunately, universal remotes often do not work as well as the packaging says.... but all hope is not lost.
First, try ALL the programming codes listed for your brand of TV. Often, one will work. Be sure to follow the programming instructions, which usually have you trying the POWER ON/OFF button first after reprogramming.
If that fails, most universal remotes have a "scan" feature that, when you start it, will cycle through every code it has stored. During a "scan" you keep the remote pointed at the set and when the set powers off, you hit the ENTER key (or the key specified in the remote manual) to stop the scan and test the functioning of your remote (channel +/-, VOL +/-, etc.)- it takes a long time and can get frustrating, but keep trying and you should find a set of codes that will operate your TV correctly.
If you have no luck, do not give up hope completely- I would next recommend that you purchase a Philips brand universal remote- this is the brand that I have found to be most flexible.

Lost remote mrd 310

most universals will use this method.

Great News!! We can program most Philips Universal Remotes with Automatic Code Searh. Here's how it works on most of our remotes.

Programming with Code Search

1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.

2. Press and hold Code Search button until the red indicator stays on. Release the Code Search button.

3. Press and release the desired mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blink, then stays lit.

4. Press the Channel Up button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device could be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks, then stays lit. If you accidentally overshoot the code required, press the Channel Down button to backtrack through the library until the device changes channel. Pressing Channel Up changes direction to forward again. Press and release the Mute button to install the code.

The above assumes that you want to store the VCR you want under the VCR but, Cable codes under the CBL, etc

Note: if the device does not have a chat channel at a button, you should Play (VCR only) or Power instead.

Here is a Code List on PDF that shoud be universal for most remotes. It worked for me.

I lost my remote codes

http://www.remotecodelist.com/remotes/magnavox/Philips-Magnavox_PM525S.pdf
This is the user's manual for a Phillips remote control. There is a list of codes in it. They should be rather universal. There's also instructions as to how to program it. I believe that there is a way to program it without using the codes.

Tv codes

Hello, Well I have a Phillips universal remote but but maybe they are the same. For the Orion TV try 105, 115, or 713. For The Pioneer DVD Try 042. If one or more does not work, Look for a "code Search" button. Turn on the device, then push and hold down the code search button until the red indicator stays on, then release the search button. Press and quickly release the desired mode button (TV, DVD, etc). The red indicator blinks off once. . If it is a tv or vcr use the channel up button until the channel changes. Press the power button on DVD and see if it is right Hope this helps.

Philips universal remote control cl034

hey i tried this and it worked. hold code search till the light stays lit(it may take a couple of secs ) then after its lit press tv and then keep pressing channel up or down till the channel on your tv changes when does press mute to save the code. also the power button will work to during code search , but i use channel because if you accidentally skip your code you can go back the other way. you might need to take out the batteries then re-insert to reset any previous codes. hope this works for you guys as well.

After programming my new universal remote, the tv keeps changing chanels! wont stop!

you need to program your remote control. take the battaries out. and maually turn the tv on. then hit the source you want to view. for example, I want to control the tv set. I push, code search and hold it then push the source button and then release the source button and then release the code search button. now, aim at the tv and then keep pressing power button till it goes off. when the tv is off, hit return or set or something like that.( every remote has different calling for it but still the same function) it should work. try it and let me know.
