My SD card reader on my Sony Vaio will not read the card...it seems to know its in the slot, but won't read any data and says 'insert the SD card' if I go to computer and try to read it. Any thoughts?

Take a can of air and blow some into the slot to make sure dust or dirt isn't getting the way of that reader trying to read the sd cards.

If you still get the same message try another SD card in that reader or try to see if another computer will read your SD card, if another computer will read the SD card and the slot still won't recognize the sd cards properly, then you know at that point the reader is bad. If the reader is bad, thats integrated into the motherboard so the motherboard would need to be replaced.

Do you only have one sd card slot? Also try and insert and then press the drive c d e f whatever that the sd card is in. Right click that and the card should be recognized. Insert a couple of times if it doesn't then try to format which would erase all data and you should be good to go.

How do i locate the sd card slot on a Sony Viao VGN-A497XP,?

There is no SD slot on this XP computer, you need to fit a USB reader into the USB socket then you can connect the SD card via that. Check if it takes your type of SD card (micro, standard, min)

Trying to view video fromm gopro hero 2 on my sony vaio

remove the SD card insert into the SD slot in the computer Card Reader. Depends on the file format. What have you tried to view the video on? Take a look at page 53 of the user manual: https://gopro.zendesk.com/home IF you need a freeware Media Player I suggest VLC, it plays most formats and easy to use, at : http://www.filehippo.com/download_vlc_32/

Is there a spot for a sd card on the sony vgn-c140g

If there is one it will be on side or front of the computer. You can always buy a sd card reader that plugs into your usb port.

Try buying a SD Card Reader that reads many formats from Tiger Direct at:

http://www.tigerdirect.com

When the site comes up just type: SD Card Reader in the white search box at the top of the page then click GO.

Or if you camera came with cables you can plug one end into the camera and the other end into the computer's usb port and turn the camera on. The computer will recognize it and you can search through the folders on the camera for the pictures.

F:/ drive does not read Scan Disk device

Try inserting the memory card into an USB card reader and then plug it into a different computer. If this computer does not detect the memory card then the memory card is probably faulty.

My va10 is not reading an sd card i have inserted into the slot

Open computer window and check the drives to see if any show your card. If so double click to open, if not, check device manager to make sure the drivers are installed for your portable devices. On the start menu, right click computer and click manage, in the left pane under computer click device manager and look for portable devices in the main window. Check there is no yellow or red icon next to it, if there is you will need to install a new driver.

It won't read my sd or memory stick cards

Does it read any cards at all?

Do lights come on with a card inserted?

I'm wondering if the power has slipped off the card reader, or if the reader has gone bad. Easiest fix is to buy a cheap external USB card reader since they run less than $10.

Card reader driver doesn't work

there could be two problem. first is that the memory card would have pasword. is so than insert it to the mobile and nutralise the sd card. second is that you might not have the driver for it. for downloading driver, go to this link http://download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-0.html?query=sony+vaio+sd+slot+driver&tag=srch&searchtype=downloads&filterName=platform%3DWindows&filter=platform%3DWindows

Have a dell Inspiron 1525 notebook with memory card reader, compatible with Memory Stick Pro - but i cannot figure out how to insert the memory stick into the memory card reader - an SD card slots in...

the MS pro may need an adapter if it's the mini kind. then that will plug into that slot. it still won't fit the same way as the SD card, so insert it carefully. there should be an indented area for the MSP card to insert.
