I Need HeLp !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Wii, Is really messed up!
And I just bought it !!!
It's my second day with my Wii, My Wii Just Froze while i was playing Wii sports, I press the power button to put it in standby mode 'the red light' and i press the power button again to start it.....and my Wii just goes Dead !!!!!
I plug out everything and plug in everything again, The Red Led Light indicator turns on which is the 'standby mode'. Once I press the Power or Eject button the Wii just goes DEAD!!! at that moment the Wii Red Light Indicator (Standby Mode) is not shown and if I press any button like the Power or Eject, the Wii wont do anything, it's just DEAD!!. But If I take out the Power cord From The Wii Conceal and plug it back the 'Standby Mode' Red Light Indicator comes back, but if I press any thing again the Wii goes Dead Again. The Wii doesn't give any sound or picture when it goes dead just a quick flash of red and greenish and blueish light which vanishes at the moment when i press the power or eject button. The Wii just doesn't power on.
THIS IS REALLY A POWER PROBLEM. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE Wii Power.... ????????
PLZZZZ HELPPPPPPPP MEEEEEEE!!!!!!
According to Nintendo u can try this. 1. push the reset button and if that doesn't work unplug all cords and memory cards (including sd) from wii and unplug av from the wii and the outlet in wall. Wait 2-3 min and then plug it back in. Thats as far as i got because that fixed my problem hope this helps someone!!!
I had the same issue and found out that one of the USB ports was shorting it out causing the shutdown when button is pressed. I took a small flathead and straightend the prongs on the inside(I made sure the prongs weren't touching the outside wall of the USB port) I then hit the power button, and presto!!!! Hope this helps !
I had the same problem as ctbtucker. (as of july 28 2010 he/she is solution #9 ) I've had my wii since november of 2009 and everytime the power goes out, it stops working. I tried un-plugging and re- plugging the cords and it wouldn't work. this happened several times and then it happend again a couple days ago so my mom found the "quick setup" booklet for my dad and he found the page that talked about how to connect the wii. so he unpluged the cords (I think it could work if it was unplugged one or both sides of the cord). We waited a couple minutes and then we repluged them in a certain order. 1. plug in the sensor bar, 2. plug in the AC adapter, 3. plug in the AV cable. it should work by then but if it doesn't I wish you luck.
EXTRA TIP: if you see/hear thunder or if you know a strong storm is coming unplug your wii system and the cords from both ends to prevent it from getting fried. because no one wants that on top of their origional problem. :D hahaha
There seems to be a problem with the wii power supplies. If you are not getting a red light at all, odds are that is it. The trick i used the first time was to literally smack the power supply on the ground and plug it back in. It seemed to work for a few weeks, now it is once again dead. Ill try it once more but currently am looking for new power supply. Had a friends do the same thing
Here's what happened with my Wii... An SD memory card was removed when the Wii was in standby mode - after that it gave the 'red light" then DEAD when the power button was turned on (after a quick flash of green and the blue light that surrounds the disk entry). The soloution that I found was - put an SD card in - turn the Wii on - the Wii will come on, or it will repeat the dying sequence. Then remove the SD card - then my Wii fired right up again.
I was positive the power brick had died - but that wasn't the case.
Hope this works for some of you. Be careful when using SD cards to view your camera images.
Holy Heck Batman! Try this! I had a "Bricked" Wii, even my 'savemii' chip would only read RED. I put an SD card in and fired it up a few times, some with the card in and sometimes without. It took a couple of tries until it started to come on without the card in. This has worked now with a couple of consoles I'd given up on. One would power off the instant you tried to turn it on And another would only black screen and not spin a disk. Both are up and running now!
My Wii was acting the same way, standby light on until any button was pushed, then it would lose power and fail to power on. After reading your post I decided to look at the memory card. One of kids had removed the memory card and stuck a penny in its place. After removing the penny, the Wii works fine. Thanks for the help, I would have never thought to look there.
The day I put a sd card as because i wanted homebrew channel then I was waiting to load but it was taking long and then I was taking the sd card out and it was stuck then i used something to get it out and once i got it out it turned off suddenly .when the red light came I pressed it and it should the yellow stand by mode and went away.I did the same thing but did not work

My roommate and I both have a Wii -today the power went out for about 2 seconds and now neither one of them has any power. They are both plugged into a surge protector and have been unplugged several hours and still wont work. This seems to be an issue with Nintendo and they need to fix it. I will not pay to fix a system I've had less than a month!
I had the same problem but in the end, it was because my son had put a coin in the SD slot and after removing it, that solved the problem!
I fixed my wii! maybe you guys can try unplugging the plug from both sides; the wall and the wii. then wait a little, plug it back in & try turning it on. it worked for me !
Reddmann-
Are you facing a window when you are playing your Wii? Do you notice if the cursor works better at night? The remote uses IR when pointing and selecting. Any harsh light will affect how well it performs. On top of that, the cursor (hand) never has worked 100% perfect in my opinion, but it does the job and isn't usually a big problem.
I got this problem
I plug out everything and plug in everything again, The Red Led Light indicator turns on which is the 'standby mode'. Once I press the Power or Eject button the Wii just goes DEAD!!!
unplug power supply from wall disconnect senor bar, tv leads , remove game cube controllers & usb & sd memory leave for about 5 minutes, while wii disconnected check usb ports on back of console see if they look ok,
this fixed my console after a 002 error and a hard shutdown
Weird, but I have been using my Wii in the horizontal position for a few months and then suddenly got this power problem (power light goes out when you click on it or try and eject a disc), whilst messing about trying to fix it, I found out that it seems to work fine in the vertical position!! Not sure if this helps anyone, but it fixed mine.
Maybe it turns off because it got overheated. So try waiting like around 30 min or something and leave it alone. Then after a while plug it it and try turing it on.
Also one of the reasons why it Problably got over heated was maybe u played a bunch of hours straight. So as i said leave it alone for a bit let it cool down if it got overheated. then try plugging it in and turn it on. Just a suggestion.

I'm a bit late to the party but when I unplugged my dvd drive the power light stayed on. I'm gonna replace the drive and see if that helps.
Eh. I have the exact same problem. On top of that, the day before it went completely dead, it couldn't read any disks. Right now, I ish sitting here waiting for fifteen minutes to pass so I can see if it'll work.
Don't call Nintendo unless you've got some money. I've tried, and it'll be $82 bucks.
Unplug the wii overnight and it should work the next day.
Just had this same problem. Tried unplugging cords and reconnecting including unplugging power cable from both the wii and the wall and leaving it for 5 minutes, but nothing worked. checked the USB ports etc for damage or possible shorts but they seemed fine. Finally put an SD card in the slot while the power was off at the wall and then turned it on and it worked fine. Took the sd card out and it has continued to work fine!!! Don't ask me why but it worked????
Buy a ps3
Had a customer with the same problem found the sd card reader had pins out of place, pluged in a sd card a few times over and that fixed the problem
The red color means off. the orange color means wii connect 24 is on.try the reset button. I'll try to find another solution

i have the same problem but i bough a game stop colling system and its still not working.
My wii does the same thing but I figured out that if the red light ids on and I double click it the light flashes and goes back to red
I have the same problem. However the red light came on when I woke up in the morning, I do not know the cause of it. I have unplugged the wii and plugged it back in multiple times. I have changed outlets, sockets, all of that. When I press the power switch the standby lights flash suddenly, then it shuts off comletely, with no lights at all, red or otherwise. there is a high pitched whine coming from the AC adapther box when I do this.
I have the same problem....red light comes on after being unplugged for awhile and when I turn the power on, it goes completely dead. I took it over to my friends house...they also have a wii & plugged our console into their power adapter and nothing....so the problem is definately in the console. When I called nintendo last night they suggested taking the console to a friends & they said if it wasn't the power adapter, that it might be a fuse problem. I will be calling nintendo this morning and sending it off for repair. Our wii isnt that old....we got it on January 2nd & really don't have a lot of time to play it.....so, it doesn't have a lot of hours on it. Did you get your problem fixed and if so, what was the problem?? Thanks for your help & good luck.
i have the same problem
Hello all,
I'm facing the same problem. Wii goes dead when powering on. Have anyone found a solution yet?
Thanks and regards,
Our wii is played almost everyday here and tonight when we went to play the console is dead..no red light nothing....changed plugs etc etc and no joy it's still dead. This has happened once or twice before when we first bought the console in May 2007 but hasn't happened in a good while. If anyone knows how to fix this please let us in on the secret
.....it won't be long before we start getting wii withdrawal symptoms!!
We are having this exact same problem! Red light goes on, but when power or eject button is pressed it goes out and no power.

Same here, had my Wii for about a year, but when I turned it off last night, could not eject the disk, then power when dead, unplugged and switched back on, got red light, when I try and turn on or eject disk the unit goes dead. Â Any help would be much appreciated.

I have the same problem with mine, and a game (Super Paper Mario)is stuck inside! Nintendo is sending me a new console and power adapter, while I have to send in the old ones to get the game out.

I plug out everything and plug in everything again,
The Red Led Light indicator turns on which is the 'standby mode'. Once
I press the Power or Eject button the Wii just goes DEAD!!! at that
moment the Wii Red Light Indicator (Standby Mode) is not shown and if I

I had the same issue, turns out that the cube controller jacks on the top of the wii had bent some of the pins together short circuiting the console, straightened them up and it worked! hope this helps
