Here's a simple way to test for what parts you need to fix your TV. With the TV on, shine a flashlight on the screen. If you see a faint picture, the T-con board is good. The problem is the ballast board for the white back light. If you don't see a picture, then the T-con board is bad. You can fix it yourself by buying your parts online from: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy
Ur LCD inverter is dead, must replaced to get the picture back.
Hi karl1345
My answer is for Sharp LC42D63X. This may be true for your model I hope.
There is Power Button and Menu button on both TV and the Remote.
Remote is more convenient, but you can use the Menu on the TV as well.
The following are the buttons/switches you have to use on the TV
Press Menu on the TV (if you don't have REMOTE Control.
ON the REMOTE------------On the TV
ENTER is same as -----TV/VIDEO
UP arrow is same as ---CH up
DOWN arrow same as---CH downn
RIGHT -> same as ---VOL +
LEFT -> same as ---VOL -
So, do the hard way as above, until you can get a Replacement Remote Control.
When you finish press Menu Again
Hope this will work for you.
Have a Good Day

Do you have menu on the screen?
What I meant to ask, if you press menu button on the remote control does menu commes on?
if you press INPUT button on TV will it switch?
Make sure that your DVD player output set to component. What else you have hooked up to the TV?

Nope, screen is black than when powering up or down get a blue screen and "component" in the upper right hand corner, this just stays on for a brief moment.
Kids actually broke the remotea little while ago. Is there another way I can access the menu? Thanks!

I do think it is switching when I push input as it will recognize whether or not the DVD player is plugged into it. When it's not, in the upper right corner it will say "analog" and static flashes on the screen for a second. When the DVD is plugged in, the screen stays black, but "component" with appear for a second in the upper right corner.
