Garage door opener model 139.53615sr. can i

is it gear or chain, is it genie or liftmaster. check for smooth operation of door by disconnecting motor. check tightness of cable/chain running down rail. this may be putting undue stress on gears and ruining plastic drive gear.

It sounds like the shaft for the sprocket and drive gear has broken or been sheared off. The part number for this assembly is 41C4220A and is available from Sears parts or any good local door opener company. It comes with instructions if you want to do it yourself.

Remove the cover from the motor unit and check the drive gear. It is most likely stripped.

Wayne dalton classic drive 3018, door goes 90% down then goes back up. Works fine manually, chain, spring, and cable all look good. Opener light blinks for about 30 seconds. Not the obstruction sensor....

The nylon gears inside the unit are shot. you can get a replacement set at your local Sears parts store.

You can buy the chain and cable assembly at any good door opener service company. I doubt you will find aftermarket though.
