You could actually bury the antenna in the roof header if the roof is all fiberglass, as it won't block the signal as much as a metal roof will. You could leave a piece of sheet metal stuck to the magnet antenna, but I would bury it INSIDE the car with a chunk of metal under it. Should work pretty decet that way, especially if your city has terrestrial repeaters.

I bought sirius radio for my husband who drives a truck. He is having trouble keeping a signal. The truck is a large four-car hauler and we wondered if placement of the antennae was the problem. Even...

They make a special antenna that mounts on the the mirror mount for the big rigs. You need a big antenna, as the regular one isn't going to work very well on a big rig. Many full service truck stop stores have the big rig antennas. Try that first. You might have better luck with XM than Sirius too,

Sirius Antenna

You may have to go to your nearest electronics store or Sirius vendor to see if they have an extension cord...as a Sirius customer i never seen one though......Your best bet is to remount the antenna to the forward part of the roof, towards the windshield.

Make sure the antenna has a good line of sight. Sirus works best when pointed in an Easterly direction. By default you should get channel 184 if there is no service activated on the radio.

All Sirius radios can be used for service only in the United States and Canada.

If you feel that the line of sight is ok and there are no obstructions from pointing your antenna either out of a window, on top of the car, or outside if it is used in a house, then try a different antenna. If you are using the smaller guage antenna wire, the connections can break inside during installation in a car from time to time.

If the radio is factory installed contact sirius at 1-888-539-7474 to see if they can see the radio on their end.

Very easily, take off the passenger side tailight (outter) two screws/torque bit. Once you have done that reach in on the inner quater panel you should be able feel the antenna....... (To remove anntenna). From the outside of the anntenna on top where the actual anntenna comes out there is a ring silver or balck. You should be able to twist (unscrew) that ring to loosen the antenna and two more on the in side of quater panel. The anntenna should drop from the inside of the quater panel. Hope this helps!!

Sirius radio with xm antenna

Not advised. They have different resistance and are set up for different Sat signals. Chances are you will decrease the life of your radio if you get a signal at all.

You will need to get another sat antenna, and locate it somewhere either above the camper, or where the camper does not obstruct the antenna. Any store that sells sat radio equipment (Fry's, Best Buy, etc) will have the micro antenna. Install it either on the hood of the truck, or on top of the camper. You will need to run the antenna to the rear of the dash. They make Y couplers that will allow you to run both the OEM antenna and the extermal antenna at the same time, and it will not hurt the system to have both wired in at the same time.
