Will my lg rumor phone from sprint work with my boost mobile account since they have basically the same network , but my boost account has a sim and my old sprint phone doesn't?
Above is incorrect. Boost uses two different networks each is different technology. The one using SIM cards is the IDEN network (Nextel). The other is Sprint (who owns Boost) and that does not take a SIM, it's a CDMA network. All Sprint phones can work on this network, but you must get Boost to activate the phone. They won't do this unless you are already a customer and tell them you are replacing a broken phone, then give the Sprint phone ESN# (under battery) for them to log in your account. If you have a Sprint LG Rumor it will then work without unlocking or flashing, no changes necessary.
Yes, you can have it work with Boost, but you must first have the phone "unlocked." This can be done by a variety of vendors on the net with a simple unlock code that you would have to buy. Search google for lg rumor unlock code.

I take it that you are a Sprint or Boost mobile customer from what I have read on four or five sites this is something your will have to address with your provider it appears to be a network issue and not a phone issue from what I have gathered Having problems with New LG Reflex any Help would be appreciated
you have to have activate one of the original boost cdma phones first, no other way around it. there going up on price on ebay, i got lucky to find one cheap. right now i'm using the palm centro
it can be unlocked by calling your carrier and they will give you the infomation unlock code as long as the account is current and not delienquent if canceled it will cause some of the features not to work on the device

The LG Rumor is a Sprint CDMA device. This means that it is activated on a network using the Electronis Serial Number programmed into the device. Once the device is powered up, it registers to the network and if that ESN doesnt match an active acct, then no service, and you may get a message asking you to activate your device. Sim cards are only in GSM devices (not including nextel and a few devices that have been dubbed world phones, allowing them to work on both CDMA and GSM services.)
So, all this was to explain simply that you can never put a sim card in a LG Rumor. There is nowhere for it to go. SRY!!!!!
PLS RATE THIS POST AS FIXYA.
an lg sprint rumor will NOT work on the t-mobile network, there is no sim card. T-mobile and at&t will work on the same network b/c they are both GSM, sprint and verizon are both CDMA
the lock code is the last 4 digits of your phone number (unless you previously changed it when you first got the phone). This is the default for all phones - again, unless you already manually changed it. If you did then you'll need to call customer service and they will reset your lock code. Pretty easy.
