GE Spectra electric oven does not maintain preset temperature

GE Spectra Range
Model: JB960C084CC
Problem:
Oven achieves the set temperature.
The oven cools without maintaining the set temperature
AND the digital display keeps showing the set temperature.

Example:
•Set oven to 375 degrees.
•Display begins at 100 and increments until 375 is achieved.
•Wait 15 minutes
•Turn OFF oven.
•Reset oven to 375 degrees.
•Display begins at 352 and increments until 375 is achieved.

Thanksgiving Day is a BAD time for this to happen.
We had to keep resetting the oven every 15 minutes and dinner was delayed over an hour.

Any suggestions?

SOURCE: GE Spectra XL Oven does not maintain oven temperature

The most logical solution for your problem would be a faulty thermostat, but yet at the same time i dont understand how it would heat to the temp desired then not come on at all. I would definately change the thermostat to start off with. Let us know :-D

SOURCE: GE Electric Spectra Oven botton element will not heat

If only one element does not work, then test heating element continuity using a multimeter.
If oven does not bake or broil, then test temp probe.
If there is nothing wrong with elements and temp probe , then test wiring harness to control panel and timer control board.

I own a spectra range Model # JBP30B0B4WH The problem is that the oven temp, is off about 15 degrees how can I adjust it? Roy

This is from page 13 of your manual:

To Adjust the Thermostat
Put the Oven Temperature knob in
the OFF position.
Press and hold the HOUR +/– pads for
5 seconds until the display changes.
Before display changes back, press
the HOUR +/– pads to increase or
decrease the temperature in 5
degree increments.
The oven temperature can be adjusted as
much as 35°F. or down as much as 35°F.
If the oven adjustment is set cooler
than the factory setting a minus sign (–)
and the adjusted temperature will appear
in the display.
Wait several seconds for the control
to automatically set and return to its
previous setting.

GE Profile Spectra XL 44 gas oven

If you can smell the gas when you turn on the oven, it may be on a separate igniter that has gone bad. I would check this first. If you are not getting gas to the oven, there is possibly an issue with the supply line.

I have the exact problem. We had the ignitor replaced 2 already and it works for 18 months and stops. Occasionally, it the oven won't even start to heat. I am ready to throw it out.

GE Range Spectra oven not working

F2 is an indication of an oven temperature sensor problem. Usually this is a problem with the oven sensor itself, or the relay contacts on the Electronic Range Control (ERC) board. If you had a close lightening strike, I would suspect that the contacts on the ERC are probably bad. It probably wouldn't hurt to replace the oven sensor as well. I hope this helps you.
