Open device manager. (Settings, Control Panel, System)
Expand system devices.
Open PCI Bus, then IRQ steering.
This should generally be enabled, but disable it if it isn't working for you.

When you restart the computer check the system bios (Usually "Press <del> to enter settings" to see whether you are allowing the operating system to control devices through Plug and Play. Either setting may work, but setting to Plug and Play Operating system is generally better with IRQ steering enabled. Try all combinations.

Although MS no longer supports Win98 you may find that Windows Updates still works. You should take whatever updates are available.

I have the ic014c installed correctly but when i use it it says not connected or not found

Is it connected via USB port? Do you have other devices connected printer etc. May be an IRQ problem. Depending on what platform you are running XP, Vista, etc Normally resolved in Device Manager. Is the Cam powered externally? can be due to non or low power output on USB hence not discovered. M

did u load the driver for the device ?
check if ur USB port is working ? by connecting some other USB device

Pc keeps freezing, sometimes even in BIOS, in the event log i read this error message : IRQARB: ACPI BIOS does not contain an IRQ for the device in PCI slot 6,function 0. hardware and appropriate drivers...

Did you place a new video card, sound card, wireless card.. ram.. anything? cause it sounds like whatever you put in is not compatible with your Mobo's PCI slots.

My toshiba web cam is not working,

Windows Vista has compatibility issues with many webcams because the ACPI is different; need to know the make/model of your webcam.

I am assuming you have a Chicony USB 2.0 Webcam made by Toshiba...

Test print page error says printer is not on line. Paper advance works and power is on. Drive error says not enough information.

I suspect your printer port is dissabled in the bios , tripple check to make sure the printer port is enabled and let me know what happens. printerport IRQ = 7

if this is a USB printer , tripple check to see that your USB ports are enabled in the bios and have an IRQ assigned to them , namely IRQ 11 which is the default and you need not set it manualy.

Use the Primary USB ports , not the extended ones as they may be dissabled by accident or have faulty wireing.

let me know what happens.

No long connecting?

maybe..look in the end of the cam usb connector, and see if there's any junk or crud in there. use a toothpick(no ear swabs, please) and using a pencil flashlight, peer into the crevice, looking for any obstructions. you could even blow it out with compressed air. I'm assuming that you've had it connected all along, right?

changing those USB connectors is quite tiring, and requires special tools, and loads of patience.

webcams are relatively inexpensive, as you know.

got a backup for your computer?

Possible usb malfunction?

hi,
well xp is a better OS than 98 ( i think) ...
few things you should know that xp is pre-installed with lotsa drivers..but on the other hand 98 isn't .. so each time you put in a USB device you need to install the driver for that device( eg your camera, pen drive etc...) . this drivers would be there accompanied with your device.
hope it helps

Freeze after 1minute

your webcam might be having any irq conflict with any other device.

Right click on my computer (in winxp) then properties, click on hardware tab and see the list of hardware installed on your pc. right click on the camera software you've installed. in properties you'll notice a resource tab...see if you have any conflict message here.

If yes try reinstalling the cam.

hope it will work.
