1 of the channels is not working - Rockford Fosgate Punch P4004 Car Audio Amplifier

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Do you have a multimeter? If so, measure the DC voltage across the speaker terminals for the channel that's not working. Is the voltage well under 1v? Have you tried moving the RCA signal cable from a working channel to the dead channel? Have you tried moving all of the switches and controls to see if the dead channel goes in/out? Have you tried a different speaker on that channel (swap wires at the terminal block)?

USE THE PROCESS OF ELIMINATION. SWITCH THE RCA INPUTS AROUND AND IF THE PROBLEM STAYS IN THE SAME CHANNEL, THE THE AMPLFIER OR SPEAKER IS AT FAULT. IF THE PROBLEM SWITCHES TO THE OTHER SPEAKER, THEN THE PROBLEM IS THE RCA CABLE OR RADIO ITSELF. YOU CAN VERIFY YOUR FINDINGS BY STARTING WITH THE SPEAKERS FIRST. SWAP THE SPEAKERS AROUND AND IF THE PROBLEM STAYS ON THE SAME SPEAKER, THEN THE SPEAKER IS AT FAULT. IF THE PROBLEMS SWITCHES TO THE OTHER SPEAKER, THEN THE AMPLIFIER OR INPUTS ARE TO BLAME. BY FOLLOWING THESE TWO METHODS, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DETERMINE EXACTLY WHICH COMPONENTS ARE AT FAULT. REMEMBER, YOU HAVE AN INPUT, AN AMPLIFIER AND A SPEAKER. THIS PROCESS OF ELIMINATION WILL HELP YOU IN THE FUTURE WITH MANY TYPES OF PROBLEMS. LET ME KNOW IF YOU REQUIRE FURTHER ASSISTANCE.....V
PS: MAKE SURE THAT THE GAINS AND BOOST CONTROLS ARE SET TO THE SAME LEVEL FOR BOTH CHANNELS BEING TESTED. ALSO MAKE SURE THAT THE BALANCE CONTROL ON THE RADIO IS STILL SET TO THE MIDDLE. DON'T WANT THESE CURVEBALLS INTERFERING WITH YOUR TROUBLESHOOTING......V

Sub woofer not working hear connection. but no sound switch connection and works. is S.W channel bad. How do i tell? All other channel are working.

you have tried the SW on other channels and it worked right? Have you tried other speakers on the SW channel? I think it is more likely that your SW channel's volume is too low or it is turned off in the options somewhere.

It's not going to be the mute feature as the sound works on video. Tuner may be damaged? Could be the channel?

Getting a specific channel on the TV without using a remote

Usually if you go into the setup menu, there is an option to allow you to either "scan" for a channel, or "input" a channel. In this case, select "input" and see if the TV will allow you to press the up and down channel buttons and go to a specific channel. If so, when you get to channel 4, press the "add this channel" option (or whatever the menu option says) and you should then be able to go to channel 4 using the buttons on the front without skipping over it.

Channel button on tv and remote control dosent work

The channel buttons on the tv and remote only navigate through the channels programed into the tv. You will need to go into set up and scan for channels or manually add channels you wish to receive.
