My fridge did the same thing. I was told to: Hold either one of the fridge doors open and press the fridge temp and ultra ice buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. The temps came on and the fridge started working.
The ice fan is frozen. It is located behind the rear panel inside the freezer drawer. I had the same problem with an LG refrigerator in November 2008 that was fixed under warranty. (There is a Kenmore model that is made by LG.) They replaced the fan and housing, and the panel duct assembly (both because a design revision provided a way to drain the water that was freezing the fan), and the main controller board (presumably because there was a new defrost program, but also because of the Energy Star settlement.) If your refrigerator is out of warranty, you can remove the freezer drawer to get at the panel behind it. Remove and defrost the fan housing. Drill some small holes in the bottom of the fan housing for drainage. Put it back together and see if that solves the problem.
I just purchased a similar model and had the same frustration. Finally called the store and it was in DEMO mode. Open the freezer draw and hold down the Ultra Ice & Refrigerator Temp buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. That worked for me and hope it will do the trick for you.
We pulled the back panel in the freezer and found the coils frozen. We defrosted the coils and the fridge started working. We will be getting a new timer. Thanks
a few things, was the ice maker working before repair?? generally the ice maker need to "cool" before making ice, usually give 24 hrs to start producing ice. next perhaps the tech shut off water supply never turned back on??? bottom freezer, perhaps he had to remove the ice maker to remove the back wall of freezer and never reconnected wire harness to the back wall.
this is a problem, there is a relay on the board that is sticking. Unscrew your lights or it will melt the display and possibly the liner. There is a fix available, contact Sears they should have a service bulletin out for it.
