This video covers how to fix a Panasonic 42" Plasma TV model TH-42PX600U that has vertical distorted ...
First, You should to replace by original part, then you should check the voltages on power supply, and check the voltage for vertical IC based on datasheet, also check the voltages on vertical section including yoke and last you should check the ESR capacitors on vertical section.
Resolder the vertical IC and replace those capacitors near and next to your vertical IC. If the horizontal line still appears, you may have to replace the IC. Thanks for asking and be caredful!
unfortunately the panel is bad. I've worked on a number of these panels to know that symptom. I checked with panasonic and the warranty is one year parts and labor. you may be able to get panasonic to fix it if you still have warranty (purchased within 1 yr.) or check with your state's implied warranty. you might qualify for warranty repair under this implied warranty. call panasonic when you find out about the state's rules.
A line on an LCD, either horizontal or vertical usually means the video driver board is defective or the screen is defective, does it show up as black even on a dark screen? That means a line of LCD "shutter"s is not working and there is a problem that cant be fixed by a reboot or channel change. Bummer.
