I have the service manual, and it looks like this is a bit of a job. You also need a special coolant fluid, not water. Still, I can't think why this would need replacement unless it has leaked out or you were replacing the picture tube. Are you sure it's not a focus problem?
You might want to try and get the set into Convergence Alignment Mode (062597 Status) and check out each gun individually. I can't imagine all 3 CRTs would need new coupling fluid. Again, have you tried adjusting focus? That's pretty easy to do.
Yes, there are focus pots mounted in a block accessible from the rear with the panel off. Give that a try first. There are screen adjustment pots on the bottom you should leave alone. It sounds like only your red CRT is affected, so you should only need to adjust the red focus.
The coupling fluid cools the CRT and also couples the output optically from the CRT faceplate properly to the lens. Since the idea is to cool the CRT, if it's really gone I suspect the CRT would not last long without it and may be damaged.
If the focus adjustment doesn't work, I'd check the lens and CRT for debris that might be obstructing the image before I'd work on the coupling fluid.

I was told that the fuzzy red convergence crosshairs on the adjustment menu meant that the lenses need new coolent. I already replaced the ICs and resistors that cause the convergence issues. I just need to know the symtoms of bad or empty coolent. Another Fixya member says it is a new coolent issue. I found the coolent in a 3 pack for $55 at Tigerdirect.com. I also obtained the service manual. It does look extensive. I will try the repair when I can assure the problem is the coolent. I wonder what the cost of the repair is. WB
Do you mean adjust the focus knob inside the unit? It's not the picture thats fuzzy, it is simpy a "fuzzy red glow" around some red or white edges of pictures. Then in the convergence adjustment mode of the standard user menu the red convergence crosshairs have a 'red fuzzy glow' under them and the multipoint convergence crosshairs are completely red fuzzy glows. I need to pinpoint the problem though for sure. I dont know what new or refilled coupling fluid is suppose to fix.
