We have a Panasonic 1080P Plasma TV hooked up to BrightHouse Cable and a Blue Ray player. We use a Brighthouse remove to control all. We are trying to hook up a Panasonic DMR-E80H DVD Recorder. We are using composite cables. We cannot get the TV to recognize that the device is there. The ?geek squad? that installed all set us up to use the Brighthouse remote. Can we hook up both the BlueRay and the Recorder? We think we have to enter the device into the TV remote, but we?re scared to do much with it because we?re afraid we?ll screw up what the geek squad did to get the TV initially programmed into the Brighthouse remote. What exact steps do we need to do to get the recorder hooked up? Thanks.

DMR-E80H Hard drive problem seems to pretty common. My drive started making the famaous kerchunk noise tonight. After disassembly I see the drive is a ATA133 Maxtor drive....are you sure that you replaced it with the correct drive? I may contact Maxtor and try to get an RMA since the drive is only 3yrs old. If you haven't done so, try downloading the firmware update from their support site. Burn the update file to a cd-rom.

I have had numerous times where my unit recovered and I had to format the hard drive(losing all of my shows), but since I did the update this has not happened to me again.

Try unplugging the DMR-E85 power cord. It is important that you unplug it from the back of the recorder, not the wall. Leave it unplugged for 10 or 15 minutes. For good measure disconnect the cable 'in' connection as well. Once both lines are plugged back in it will go through its self-check diagnostics. Leave it alone for awhile (give it time to consider the error of it's ways). If you are lucky, when you turn it back on it will ask you to verify the channel lineup. If this does work, and all the channel info is correct, press 'enter' (lineup 1 highlighted). Good luck! This is an awesome machine, WHEN IT WORKS!

I figured out, unlike all the other posts, you don't have an enter button. But Instead, you would hit the 2 and OK button at the same time for a few seconds. I had the RC1 message and I did the 1 with OK and it worked. so if you have RC2, you should hit the 2 and OK. Should work!!

Hi - No, it isn't fixed yet. However, for some reason, if you will notice, at the top of this page in blue lettering, there is a reference to a "Toshiba, DVR........ . I did not notice that until after I had posted the request for help. The problem is with a new "Magnavox ZV457MG9" recorder/player. I would dearly love to find out how to fix the problem - I hate to give up - in fact I don't think I can give up! Hopefully, someone in your group will help shed some light on this!
