Hi, I have a Vanguard 16,000 BTU infrared ventless heater (LPG) model NZ105. The pilot burns great but when turned to the on position the panels don't fire. The try to light but flame just pops on and off. All the other gas appliances in the house work fine so I don't think it's pressure. Can you help? Thank you Jim Andrews

good thing that you turned it off as it is now not operating as designed and that makes gas dangerous
call an accredited gas fitter to properly diagnosed the problem and repair/ replace it
First, can you smell gas when you push for the pilot? If yes, look at the tube where the pilot gas comes out. Sometimes there is a small hole or 2 in the tube before the opening where the gas comes out. This is to allow air to mix with the gas. They sometimes become plugged with lint or dust. Check for this and let me know what you find.

Pilot light stays lit various times, sometimes for several days then other times for a few minutes. Lights best when temp outside is below freezing. Pilot flame appears to receive too much air. How do you adjust the pilot flame? Is this done using two screws marked A & E? Do you have suggestions?
Thanks,
Ed
the pilot light always stays on, its designed to allow your heater to turn on by itself without you needing to light a match every time. if the pilot light is burning you have nothing to worry about. its when the pilot light goes out that a small amount of gas leaks into the room. and by small i mean smaller than a hand held lighter... if you still want to shut the entire thing down you could turn off the gas line feeding the heater or possibly the whole house, otherwise the pilot light will stay on. as far as the actual heater turning off, thats probably controlled by some sort of thermostat somewhere. if you set the temp to very cold it should stay off. if that doesn't work then you may need a new thermostat.
same thing happened with mine,it turned out to be the solenoid that the remote controls, I fixed this by dismantling the fire and right next to the control knob that u turn to go from off/pilot/on its there u remove it using a 7mm wrench remove C-clip and pull apart clean rebuild and reinstall i found the unit was bad and the piston did not have enough travel and ended up removing remote control unit and have it manual mode
I have a Rinnai Ventless heater hooked up to a 20 lb propane cly with a Moble home type regulator in line, and when I light it the pilot light lights and stays on. When I turn it to the heat position the pilot light go's out and that it!
