Wharfdale DVDR24HD160F 1 week old. Froze after deleting prog from Hard drive. Switched off then on again. OK until recorded to hard drive this am. Froze again. Tried switching off but this time only blue light shows on machine. No time in display, just blank. TV shows blue with VCR in corner. No response from remote control (batteries OK). No response from buttons on front of machine. Can't open to remove my DVD disk. Any advice?

I decided it was faulty (there was no response from any buttons)so took it back to Argos. They just offered me my money back which I accepted. Can anyone recommend a reliable PVR?

    Thanks for trying to help.

now on third player am taking back to Argos again tomorrow am not having another. Unfortunately lost receipt but have a way of proving how paid for.

Mine froze when left on overnight, disk stuck inside. Would not respond to remote control in morning so used mains power switch to turn off. Now has lost the display and will not turn on with either power switch or remote control. Tried the phone number on the front of the instruction manual but as I did not buy this "exclusive" product from Argos they could not help much. Was hoping someone might have found a shortcut fix as this reminds me of when a sky box freezes and needs a re-start.

Hi Barb22,

Sounds faulty to me, I'd take it back to the store and get a replacement. However, I guess you want that DVD out first? I'm not sure this will work because the units logic board is mostly likely faulty and will prevent the DVD transport from opening. Unplug the unit and press the eject button, keeping it pressed plug the unit back in. If the unit does not come on then press the power button too. If the unit starts to open release the button immediately. It's unlikely to eject, but you might get lucky.

Sorry I can't be of much further help.

Regards,

Spare head 2

Mine had E1000 on the display. Remove plug from mains and reconnected. Worked OK for few days, then would not power up. Eventually found problem on Power Supply Board. It was a Electrolytic Capacitor, value 2200uF 16v, at C112.
This worked OK for me.

I have a Panasonic HDD Recorder Model No. DMR-HW100 which recently has developed a problem. If you try to record more than one program it shows this message. "The timer recording list is full! Please

Hi Paul
I guess it will depend on where the timer recording list is kept. Memory or Hard Drive.
These machines often have an internal battery (or capacitor) to keep the date & time correct. Did the date or time need reentering when you turned it back on?
There may be a key sequence to reset this. See Manual.
Can the internal Hard Drive be formatted using the internal software. Basically like formatting a computer Hard Drive

This acer AX 3400-E4502 , window 7, doing fine until it froze while I was typing a journal. It froze and shut off by itself. When I restarted it, it tried to do a repair but after a while it went to black...

hi there,
well this won't sound good but you are most likely suffering from a hardware failure. It sounds like your video card. this can overheat once and just get worse from there(runs for but 20 minutes or so then dead). so you would have to replace that to fix the first issue.
ok so since you have done a reinstall to a drive that had a kernel(version of windows) that is still present and newer thru updates. the recovery is a missmatch in files.
so you have now made it hard to get to your data unless you have another hard drive(then just do a fresh install to new drive and view old drive for data). as you will need to have a new boot record on the operating systems drive (or clean the old drives boot record with fixmbr this would require much more explanation)

hope this helps

Govideo model dv2130

You should be able to get into a list of timer recordings by this method:
1 Open “Initial Setup” menu
Press the SETUP button or the TIMER button while the DVD is in
Stop or Play mode.
2 Select “PROG”
Use the ??/?? buttons to highlight “PROG” then press the
ENTER button.
3 Select the recording to be deleted
Use the ?? and ??/?? buttons.
Press the ?? button to move to the next setting.

The squares are the arrow keys! You should be able to delete the settings using these keys or some other key.
Next time you set a timer recording make certain you don't set the weekly setting!

WD Elements 1TB HD freezes Windows and asks me to "insert a disk"

I suspect that your motherboard was not designed to work with this huge drive. How old is your computer? Have you checked the computer manufacturer's website for info on what size hard drives can be used with that model?
You might still be able to use it by installing software called a dynamic drive overlay; check the website of the big drive's manufacturer for software.

Latitude d600

Dave,
At this point the virus, and it was a virus no doubt, has done irreparable damage to the operating system, and possible the hard drive. You will need an operating system disc, no way around that. Once you have the disc, then you will need to reformat the hard drive using the full NTFS format, not the quick format, to ensure total deletion of the virus, and install a new operating system. If the hard drive won't format or if you have any issues during or after the install, then the hard drive has or is failing and will need replaced. If you need any futher asststance with this just ask.

How do i access the Hard Drive out of a Wharfedale DVDR24HD160F 160GB HDD DVD Recorder

hmm...similar problem here. i've taken the hdd out and plugged it in to the ide port inside my pc. The problem is it's the wrong file system. Your pc will not see it. It is however just a normal hdd so you can re-partition it and give it a new file systm ie ntfs but you lose all the data :(. that's as far as i've got, hope it helps someone.
