I have a Magnavox 50MF231D/37 plasma tv that won't turn on. I have to unplug it and let it sit. The green LED light changes to red and flashes. I upgraded the software but still have the problem.

I have 50 in plasma phillips magnavox 50mf231d-37, will not come on red light flahses 4 times

this is some info that some one else had found

get a memory stick( flash drive) and up load their soft ware from their site. I plug the stick into the computor and uploaded the software. I then plugged the stick into my TV on the side. A screen came up and the software loaded on the TV successfully. The red light then turned to green. However, I now have to unplug and plug the TV several times for it to turn on. It works fine but once the TV is turns on, but when I turn it off and it cools for a while I have to repeat the same proceedure off plugging and unplugging

Philips 42'' Plasma TV 42PF7320A/37 red led error codes

I had the Same issue. on a 50PF9431D/37 set. Many Plasma Set's use a LJ44-00118A PS-505-PH Power supply from Samsung. Known to have this common problem. If you can, or have a friend that can Solder components?. Unplug your set remove the back panel & locate your power supply. It will be the PCB in the center of the set just above the Video/Audio connections. http://www.shopjimmy.com/power-supply-unit-lj44-00118a-from-philips-50mf231d-40.htm. Is a Link to a photo of the PCB. Make a note of the locations of all cable connections then unplug them all. Un-install PCB, Check all Fuse first. I believe their is 5 or 6 of them on the PCB. Then replace the two 3300uf 10v 105C Radial capacitors at C8060 & C8059. Look to see if the Caps are deformed and or split at the top. The location of the caps are in the Lower bottom edge of the PCB. A local shop may Carrie them if not, digi-key has them. Part # http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=493-1754-ND. Total cost was $7 with S/H.

50" Magnavox Plasma TV will not turn on - Red LED blinking 4x

When you have the red light that blinks four times on the 50" Magnavox Plasma Model 50MF231D/37, you should look for the capacitors on the power board in the center of the of the TV. Look for two 3300uf, 10V, 105c capacitors that have a build up of pressure that has caused the top of the capacitor to look rounded instead of the flat top that will be on all of the other capacitors. Changing these two capacitors fixed the problem of the TV not coming on.
I had more trouble finding the capacitors than changing them. I could not find them locally so I went to an on-line electronics supply store where they were $1.65 each and $8.99 to ship.
