No New Email Alert Sound or Vibration

I have a new iphone ver 1.1.2. I cannot get the sound or vibration to work properly to alert me that I have new mail. I have turned all the setting on and off. That makes it work briefly. I have done a complete restore and that makes it work briefly. I have gone to the Genius Bar at a retail Apple store and they gave me a new iphone. That worked for about an hour. I am not having any problems actually sending and receiving email. Any help would be appreciated.

There is a button on the top left side of the phone. Move it to the other setting and see if ring returns.

If the sound and vibration work but only for a short time try setting the actual sound vibration settings to a longer setting. Instead of vibrating/beeping for 1-2 times or for a few seconds set it to 4-5 beeps, vibrates. Check the manual for this settings location on the phone.

No sound coming form the phone at all, it is only vibrating, i have changed the profile on it to outdoor and made sure the phone is not on vibrate in any way. You help would be much obliged. Jordan

Select the profile you want to use, then select 'customise' select 'ok' at the bottom of your screen, select volume on the new display page to verify your volume level, select back to previous page, then select 'alert type', now you can make selection of how you want your phone to alert you of an incomming call. i.e. Ring; Vibration Only;Vibration and Ring; or Vibration then Ring.

My sidekick lx text alert tone does not work. the sidekick does not vibrate or make a sound when i receive a text.

This most likely has to do with the sound profile that you currently have set. Go into the sound options, see if there is a detailed option available to increase/decrease the ring volume or vibration.

Some phones have the option to turn on an alert and vibration for text/incoming call.s

How to change Message Alert tone

The msg alert tone depends on the current sound profile of your phone (like normal, silent, driving etc).
1. Go to main menu -> settings -> phone profiles. You should find all the profiles available in the phone. For example, we will change the msg alert tone for 'normal'.
2. Tap on the box with the double arrow (>>) symbol next to normal. You should enter a screen saying call alert type, voice call ringtone etc.
3. There is a drop down menu at the top right side of the screen. Tap that and select 'new messages'.
4. 'message alert type' should be melody or vibration & melody, depending on your preference.
5. now select 'message alert tone'. The phone has a number of tones already stored. Select one of these.
6. Or select 'sounds' at bottom right and browse to any file you want to set as message alert tone instead..
7. Save and exit !!
