Trying to access mp3 files on HP Media Server on local network through the PS3, version 2.2. The PS3 can recognize folders, artist and song title, but says the files are unplayable, or unrecognizable. All files play on my networked computer through WMP. Also, PS3 can not see my computer; I'm suspecting virus protection is making it "invisible?"

Whether you are hooking up your device through a USB cable or removable memory (SD card/Flash drive) the PS3 should recognize and play the titles. Here are a few steps to help you along.

1. Hook up device to your PS3

2. Select PS3 media icon where files files should be located

3. Press triangle button on controller

4. Sub menu will show up on side of screen

5. Select the 'display all' option

6. Files should now be accessable/loadable/playable

Playing files directly from the Mp3 player or loading them on the hard drive are both do-able and both methods should work.

You need to press Triangle then click X on Display All. The default view uses some kind of Sony-proprietary list of content no one seems to understand. Display All tells it to actually show you what you expected... your files.

Can't delete songs that don't play

Run the Sansa Recovery Tool and just start over from scratch. Only use songs that are in mp3 format if you don't want grief later.

Trying to sync songs with music rights

The songs are in the wrong format - it does not recognize iTunes songs or DRM-encrypted songs which do not have "transfer rights" (many msuic services - especially free ones but also paid ones - give you WMA's that have "play rights" -i.e. you can play them on your computer; but if they do not have transfer rights, they will show up in your player, yet not play correctly/skip).

Transfer only songs that are in Mp3 Format and you will never have this problem.

The songs have a DRM protection system on them that the player does not recognize. Only transfer tracks that are in mp3 format to bypass a lot of problems.

Mp3 wont play downloaded music

The device has 2 modes on it MSC and MTP, if you changed modes and uploaded songs in the other mode, they are only visible on the PC in that mode. But, the PC will show the total amount of free space on the device.

If this is not the issue, I would try formatting your device to remove everything and start over.

You can FORMAT thru My Computer>Device Name (e280)>Right Click and select FORMAT.

Best of Luck.

Mp3 player won't play

your ILO has somehow lost its file structure. look for a tiny pinhole to reset the device. if none, then remove batteries to attempt reset. if still no songs, then firmware upgrade if possible or copy file structure (using windows) from a friend's ILO.

Device keeps shutting off by itself and won't synch

Make sure the songs are in the right format. Napster is a real bear about disappearing songs - try another music svc.
