Question about HP Photosmart 2710 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I have an HP Photosmart 2710 All-in-One printer and it keeps printing every other line. Photos print great. It's just when I print an email or a Word doc it will print a line fine, then a line skip, then print 2 lines, then skip another line, and so on. I can not get it to print an entire page any more. Any one have any suggestions?
Is this a case of the dots are missing for a valid line, or do you mean a line feed is added at the end of a line, ie you get 3 lines of text occupying 4 lines of space , or 4 lines of text occupies 4 lines of space, but one line has no printed dots on it? to make it more obvious, what does a document with say text thats 3cm tall look like? as it sounds to me like contacts need cleaning.. *** note for info: do not rely on printouts from within a BROWSER as that may have unpredictable results. All text will be treated as a large block of PIXELS and Not TEXT. also Non Printer fonts could cause similar issues.

SOURCE: Deteriorating Print Quality
This is Maltesecross. Turns out that the faintness of my printed pages was in fact due to a low ink cartridge, even though some pages printed out fine and others half-good. Eventually, all pages turned faint, and upon re-installing the driver, I got a low-ink warning (the first one ever). Putting in a new ink cartridge solved the problem for me.

Most deskjets include a maintenance section. Open this printer in PRINTERS on Control Panel (assuming Windows). right click on the printer and select properties. You will have to look for the maintenance section. There you should find an option to "clean heads". You may need to do this several times if never done before. After each cleaning, print a test pattern. Hope this helps.

Testimonial: "Worked like a charm! "
I have this same problem and no solution! (I'm on a Lexmark 2400 and Windows XP.) The problem is how much ink it wastes on one alignment and NO BYPASS option - an ink cartridge is $25, we can't waste it on a USELESS test!!! They're trying to make money but let's not fall for it. We need a way to bypass the ****. Somebody heeelp.
