Same problem! Trying to use a universal remote. Haven't found a remote with Vizio code numbers!
It turns on... but it doesn't turn off! Tried several time re-entering the code from manuel book help for a minute but them No turning OFF! I think it might be the TV and not the remote!

If your Vizio M656-G4 TV is not powering up and there is no standby light, here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:
Check the power source: Make sure the power cord is securely plugged into the wall outlet and the TV. If the power source is a surge protector or power strip, try plugging the TV directly into the wall outlet to rule out any issues with the power strip.
Check the remote control: Make sure the batteries in the remote control are fresh and properly inserted. Try using the power button on the TV itself to turn it on in case the remote is not working properly.
Perform a power cycle: Unplug the TV from the power source for at least 60 seconds, then plug it back in and try turning it on again.
Check for firmware updates: Make sure your TV is running the latest firmware by going to the settings menu and selecting "System," then "Check for Updates."
Contact Vizio support: If none of the above steps work, contact Vizio support for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or recommend a repair service if necessary.
It's worth noting that if your TV is still under warranty, it may be best to contact Vizio for assistance as attempting any repairs yourself could potentially void the warranty.
If your Vizio M502i-B1 TV is not turning on despite the power board, fuse, and power cord being in working order, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:
Check the remote: Make sure the batteries in the remote control are fresh and that the remote is functioning properly. Sometimes, a malfunctioning remote can prevent the TV from turning on.
Unplug the TV: Disconnect the TV from the power outlet and leave it unplugged for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and try turning it on again.
Check the input source: Make sure the TV is set to the correct input source. If the TV is set to an incorrect input, it may appear to be turned off.
Check for lights: Look for any lights or indicators on the TV that may be on or flashing. This could indicate a specific issue with the TV that can be diagnosed and resolved.
Contact Vizio support: If the issue persists, you can contact Vizio customer support for further assistance. They may be able to help diagnose the issue or recommend a repair service if necessary.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be best to have a professional repair technician diagnose and repair the TV.
1. pull battery from remote for 10 seconds. This will force reboot of remote. test, if fail move ahead,
2. do a main reset on Tv,, pull power plug from power source,, wait 10 seconds, reconnect, turn on!, fail continue
3. ? when you turn on TV is the stand by led light amber, when you turn on LED\'s does it start to change color , but standby light is still on? if test positive with findings issue should be your motherboard or even power board but it should be Mo/Bo..
I just had the same problem. I call Vizio and this is what they had me do that did fix the problem.
1. Unplug the TV
2. Hold down the power button on the TV for 30 seconds (yes, with it unplugged and do not plug it back in yet.)
3. Take the batteries out of the remote.
4. Press each button remote twice to ensure that they bounce back and are not stuck.
5. Place new batteries into the remote.
6. Plug the TV back in. Not into a power strip if possible. ( I did not have an available outlet so I used a power strip.)
7. Try turning the TV on using the remote. (My TV turned on. All of the functions worked - problem fixed.)
Hope that this helps.
yes my friend check the capacitors in the power supply. some techs call them pregnant capacitors
open the set carefully and check the power supply.always remember to unplug the set before you do anything.
