Do not try to level the washer. Level the feet on the pedestal AFTER the washer is installed. Just make sure the legs of the washer are all set the same on the pedestal and tightened down. Then, adjust the pedestal feet so the washer is level front-to-back and side-to-side. Once you level the unit, place your hands at opposite diagnoal corners on the top of the washer (one hand on a rear corner, the other hand on the front corner). If the washer has a firm foundation and you have the leveled the feet correctly, it should not move when you apply any pressure at these opposite corners. If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

My new lg direct drive front load drips bleach down the front from the detergent drawer. The machine is level. Sometimes will puddle on the floor. Any suggestions?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

I suspect that it is the conditioner/softener tray which is causing water to overflow from the dispenser drawer so it needs a thorough clean,
paying particular attention to the sentences in BOLD ;-0)
-------------------------------------
Remove the complete drawer. To do this you will have to do one of the following-
  • Top catch- push down the lip/catch at the middle rear and pull the drawer out (that's how our Bosch one is removed)
  • release the catches underneath (our daughter's Indesit) or
  • lift upwards on the tray as it is coming out to clear the lip underneath.
Once out identify which tray is for the conditioner- the others are simply 'chutes' and open-ended.
It will normally have some sort of cover over it which you must remove to expose the little stuck up pipe/tube. On some models there is just a small individual cap over the tube. The tube is down which the conditioner and water should siphon. It is likely to be blocked by 'gunge'- a mix of powder and conditioner. The whole of the tray, particularly this pipe and the bit which fits over it, must be completely clean and clear for it to operate correctly. It is worthwhile checking fairly regularly.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

How do you remove the detergent drawer?

Most drawers have a part underneath that's flexible and catches on part of the surround to prevent it falling out when filling. Just press this part up and pull forwards as tho opening for filling. It should come out easily. The part should be clearly visible if you get underneath and look up at it while it's open. The underside of the drawer should be split into 3 pieces, the middle part being an inch or 2 wide. Press this part up whilst withdrawing he drawer.

When starting, water leaks from soap drawer. We have levelled it using spirit level, tried putting front legs higher than back and also tried turning the water pressure lower. Nothing seems to work!

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
2 things- leaking and correct leveling!
Leaks. Although you do not say which model it is, this is a common problem with many machines. I suspect that it is the conditioner/softener tray which is causing water to overflow from the dispenser drawer so it needs a thorough clean,

One of these should enable you remove it
(I am having to guess some of the following!)
Once out identify which tray is for the conditioner- the others are simply 'chutes' and open-ended.

Now leveling
Although you say it's level I would recommend you try my method to make absolutely certain. It is necessary to ensure absolutely that the machine has all 4 feet very firmly on the floor, and I mean firmly ;-0)
Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not but switch it off then-
very firmly push one front corner diagonally into the centre of the machine and see if the machine moves or rocks AT ALL, even the slightest. If it does you will need the open-ended spanner which came with the (new) machine........which of course went missing a long time ago?!! An adjustable spanner will suffice.
Adjust the foot under that corner downwards until it is very firmly- almost pushing- against the floor but not so far that the corner lifts up!
If this corner did not rock do the same to the other.
Once you cannot rock the machine the slightest little bit, screw the locking nuts up tight to the underside of the machine so that they will not move. Ideally the rear feet should also be locked.

If these have assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

My washer bangs and goes off balance in the spin cycle. It has been leveled and is not off balance.

Without knowing the type of washing machine that you are using I can tell you generally that:
First make sure that the washer is level. There should be leveling legs on the machine that you can screw or unscrew to level it.
And that there are several causes of this problem.

1. Load is too large for the machine. Be sure not to stuff the washer full. The items should have room to move around.
2. Items being washed are not of similar weight so that they unbalance easily (Wash jeans with jeans/knits with knits/towels with towels)
3. Items are poorly loaded (in a top loader). Distribute the items well.
4. Front loading washers on platforms with drawers, etc. are very prone to this problem. We finally took our off the drawer/ platforms and the problem went away. After a couple of service calls that helped not at all.
5. Front loaders sometimes have this problem if they are installed on a "soft floor" such as Laminate flooring. You can help this by placing a thick rubber-backed rug or a piece of plywood underneath your machine.

These are the solutions that I have learned from my own experience. I hope that these ideas help you.

Fabric conditioner compartment floods with water

Hello,
Normally if the water flows out of the cond. compartment you need to remove the drawer from the housing by pressing the tab inside drawer and pull out, take to sink remove plastic plate in cond. comp. clean under tap into recess of underneath. Then clean the 3 holes I think in drawer part and make sure all outlets are clear. When clean fill with water to max level mark, hold level then let more water into drawer and it should empty itself by a syphon action.Hope This has been helpful.

Fabric softner dispenser

take the soap dispenser drawer out and clean the drawer and the underneath the drawer, then clean the inside of the machine where the drawer fits into to. It could be caused by a build up of soap.

Fabric Softener does not syphon and water leak from front of dawer.

The detergent/softner dispenser is located above the detergent drawer. A water pipe is connected to it and water entrance and distributed to drawer's cells (following the programmed cycle) by a lever's movement (part of the dispenser). The lever movement is controlled by two solenoids that received their power from the timer. By opening upper machine's cover you will have an access to the dispenser. Disconnect the power cable from the machine before moving to next test !!!! Look first that they are not any disconnected wires. Move manually dispenser's lever and see if water running to all cells (depend on your movement). In case it doesn't work properly remove the unit from the machine and try to clean it (I hope it will help, otherwise you should replace the unit). In case it works properly (manually) - you should test by a multi-tester solenoid's resistance. the one that doesn't have a resistance measurement should be replaced. Good luck !!
